Hello, Artysts.

I would like to know how this SPG should be played...

  1. With the Stock Gun
  2. With the Top Gun

Back on the old patch things were pretty straight forward to do. But now with the new patches, SPGs are closer from becoming support vehicles and I, as a team player, would like to know how to use the M55 in order to help my team and get the most of the patch.

Should I procure to stun as much enemies as possible in one go, go for the lonely target... Stuff like that. I got a habit of relocating after shooting because other Artysts have gotten quite better at counter battery.

I prefer asking since I haven't played in a while. All helpful advice is appreciated.

*Constructive advice only. I already expect some of our difficult forumites to spew their toxicity in this thread.

speaking purely personally and as a rare arty player only interested in missions I have gone back to stock gun, I end up doing much more damage and stun due to its higher rate of fire

Depends on the tanks and the situation. Shoot wherever help is required. If there are OP tanks in the match, concentrate on them if necessary.
It's pretty straight forward...

This SPG is, unsurprisingly,  best played by clicking on actual tanks from God view. When fully aimed it is generally almost impossible to completely miss if the enemy does not move more than the radius of your aim circle away from the impact point. You absolutely do not need to relocate after every shot, I haven't been countered in as long as I can remember. You should select the correct gun for the mission you are doing. If you are playing SPGs without a mission I don't understand nor can I likely help you.

Depends on the mission. I was struggling in M12 to do 15 mission as I kept hitting and not leaving enough left for the required 1000 support damage. Finally did it last nite so prob no more arty for me for a while.

As a general rule, I have found in the US/Russian/French tier 6..8 the best gun to use is the Stock Gun - damage is no longer as important,- stunning is.

Also don't use premium ammo it costs a fortune.

There's a replay been uploaded - with me and a teammate playing with the M40/M43 - me with the stock gun, him with the top gun - he got 1st class, I got Mastery

If you get a cluster of tanks - like the reply try and stun, but if you feel you can take out an annoying scout - go for him

Asking how to be skillful in a class that takes such a small amount of skill to be 'effective'.

Sure: sit at back of map, let team mates risk themselves so enemies get spotted, put one hand down pants and smash face against left mouse button from time to time while waving your cursor, roughly, where the enemy is.

For bonus points: don't aim for heavy armour that is being played defensively, instead aim for lowish HP tanks that are face-hugging your team mates' lowish HP tanks...

drive them into the nearest body of water that is deep enough and stop annoying players who play real tanks.

I figured the stock gun would be better on that basis too, but I keep seeing other guys using the top one instead.

I have been, and not for lack of moving away. Sometimes even while doing so unspotted. :/

Asking how to be skillful in a class that takes such a small amount of  HP,  mobility and self-defence capabiites to be effective... Hm, let me think.

Sure: pick a strategic location on the map to support your team mates and reduce their risk by shooting enemies who are foolish enough to get spotted, aim down and press left mouse button on the biggest threat.

For bonus points: don't aim for heavy armour. That is being played defensively, instead aim for lowish armoured parts of enemy tanks and be careful not to hit your team mates. The new patch brought a huge splash and we'd rather not to get hit by our own guys!  ;)

That's a roger! Thank you!

Not all maps have water bodies that help me conceal the vehicle and those that do, typically have bushes to go along (I'm thinking Malinovka?) but thanks anyway.

Arty should be buffed.

Arty is fine now. But I would decrease splash, give back nerfed AP/CR and HEAT rounds and made splash unable to go through rocks, buildings etc.

And you got to GW  by playing (not) 1000 or so arty matches. Hypocrite unveiled

Stock gun all the way. Ability to drop multiple shells outstrips the small bonus damage you get from using the bigger gun.

I'm struggling with the T55 SPG-15, where you need to finish on top in xp. With the current nerf, it is borderline impossible to finish on top of a winning team. :( But will try with the stock gun.

I am stuck on this as well. The conditions seem like a bad joke in the current meta. Like WG are taking the piss.
