Just a thought, if others can help refine it a bit, it would be nice. Also, couldn't find a suggestion section so I'm leaving it here.

My blacklist is getting a bit longer with each game.

Every single game, there must be at least one person who can't help but type in all caps "idiot team" or "[some_player] retard".

I just blacklist those, report if necessary, but it gets tiresome.

It would be much easier if the chats were monitored by some sort of word filter (using a dictionary?), and such toxic players were automatically issued a warning after the game. Not necessarily on first offense, maybe after 3-5. If so, the system would need to keep a log of player offences - 1-5 in 2-3 days and they get a warning, more and their chat gets disabled for a while, keep going and more serious steps should be taken as those players consistently attempt to ruin the team's morale & are overall d**kheads.

Thoughts on this?

Yes, absolutely! Making it similar to the team damage penalty system with increasing severity of the punishment, only it would be easier to identify the offender (the one who swears is obviously guilty).

I agree with this. There is no reason at all to use certain words other than to verbally abuse someone, so there should be no problem with an automatic system as far as I can see.

As far as I know, there's already a setting that censors offensive words but it's disabled by default?

But, the intent is still transmitted. Whether it's "******* ******** team" / "**** you ******" or the uncensored versions, you can probably guess what's going on and it slowly adds to your tilt-meter.

Word filtering for how many languages?

Battle chat will look like

Player1: ***** *** *** ***** **** *****

Player2: ** **** * ***** **** ****

etc.

Very good point. Ex. Romanian 'cum' (how) is something entirely different in English.

Not sure how that could be handled other than content analysis (i.e if whole message or series of messages is in English, then the offensive word is determined to be in English)

1) Disable chat

2) Put on some good relaxing music.

3) Disable all mods.

4) Invite a friend or two to platoon with you.

5) Pew pew.

Relax, have fun. Why care about meanies saying bad words in a pixel tank shooter? I really don't get it.

Disabling chat is an option indeed, but it may put you at a disadvantage (sometimes, unfortunately extremely rarely, people use it to coordinate attacks/defenses).

Disabling your only (clear) means of communicating with your team should not be necessary on account of some douches :/

'Toughen up' is a good idea as well :) It's just that after a long day's work I for one, am in no mood to take s*** from random people.

I agree on all points, except the first one. I don't mind the chat, no matter how stupid it is. And it gives me something to read while red-line-bush-camping:trollface:

Then if I type an English sentence and a French swear word then I get away with it.

Also, as a Brit, it does seem that a lot of our continental cousins learn swear words in English before they learn any other English words.

On purpose, perhaps. If you really want to get under someone's skin, make sure they understand the insults you're throwing at them.

As for your point, depends on the 'intelligence' of the system that analyzes the text. 'aadfaha ghsdfh asdgas' (excuse my French) followed by 'f*** your mother' can be analyzed by line as well as by series. If analyzed by line, the 2nd line can be detected.

I voted no. As long as they aren`t blatantly rasist or threathening me, I don`t care to much. If I`m bored I troll them back.

But reporting someone for saying idiot team or retard.....nope.

I'm all for banning people for the harder insults and raging, so I'd love to see an automated system.
But whenever I read how people talk about their blacklist and how they ban people for every tiny bugfart, I think that there should also be a warning if you hit 100 blacklisted people: "Dear player, you blacklisted so many people, it's time to grow up and to think about a few things in your life..."

Have to disagree on this one, my blocking rude people has little impact if any at all (since most complainers usually do it after they die) on the team's performance.

Not sure why it should be punished then, it's the equivalent of spewing profanity in a .txt file. As long as it doesn't negatively influence others, it's fine

Order beer yes.

2nd thing is how to say "I don't speak <whatever language>"

After that it's English in a loud voice while waving my arms around.
