Why Developers HATE Light tanks ?

Hi there ,

I'm just wondering why does Developers hate Light tanks they made them up to tier 10 and what ? They removed all of the scouting maps its all city maps now and if you need to do something like LT 15 mission  for the T 55 A there is only 1 map to do it IF! your lucky ( Prokhorovka ) . There was 1 more map Malinovka the swamp was perfect place to scout but of course that had to be nerfed as well . 

P.S. can you tell me how are we suppose to deal 7 k of dmg as the scouting is out of question im playing alot of scouts and i use to like it i can even say that im kinda good with them i have made up to 5-5.5 k dmg but 7 come on i have to kill the 50-60 % of there team... Btw the TD mission is 6k atm ....

Malinovka is still fine for doing the mission if there aren't too many other light tanks in the matchup.

They don't hate Light tanks, they just don't care that's all. Average bob wants impenetrable armor and gun where aiming is obsolete, so dev's naturally trying to accommodate the largest group playing this game. Just look at Type 5 or Maus, light tanks are hard to drive and very punishing if you make a mistake, average bob will drive forward, let him self killed and repeat the process in the next battle so they can get to tier X as fast as possible. 

When they reach the tier X, they realize that scout tank is not what they thought will be so they move back to impenetrable heavy tank and then they are happy. So LT is not a priority to anyone in WG.

because Murazor doesnt want that light tanks has any hope of fighting his precious Maus.

I made 7k on swamp assault with 13 90. 4.5k damage and some light tracking and spotting.

That mission isn't too bad. In fact I think the 5k spotting was a lot harder.

 

But in general I think devs are afraid of skilled players outplaying bad players in LTs and they don't want the endless whining it would bring.

Better to have whining about MAUS from 1% of the base than whining about LTs by 50% of the playerbase.

Because otherwise the lights could harm the bobs heavy tank.

its funny when morons think there is some anti XY agenda in the game :teethhappy: they made light tanks,but they made them intentionally bad to torture you...sure thats a plausible explanation

 

or maybe they just want to have a certain ingame meta that will yield as much money as possible (with corresponding game mechanics to go with it) while keeping it playable? hmmmm who knows

I would argue they have very little idea how lights should be. IMO they have already created an example by having leopard 1 and bc25t, which is high-mobility and high camo tanks. They are both all right in their own with a unique light-tank like role, which I can see no problem with simply re-classifying them as light tanks and use them as templates for all other tier 10 lights. Instead they seems to try too hard to distinguish light tank from then without realising that they are just creating crappy medium tanks for the sake of having a "different" style.

Malinovka - Encounter Battle: spot actively in the middle by driving parallel to the small ridge (only show a bit of your turret) while moving at full speed (never stop when you're in the middle), then in racetrack pattern to repeat.


 

Please ignore the 5'000 HP LT-15, I was just improving results to get extra credits/etc.

Yeah, if anyone is wondering, he is behind such classic tanks as:

Scorpion G

252U Defender

Liberté

Patriot

Chrystler K

Maus (buff)

Type 5 (buff)

 

and he was head of the balancing department when all lights were nerfed.

Also, he mains heavy tanks.

Biggest problem with light missions is the large competition in spotting you get. When you get 3-4 lights in the team is naturally harder.

 

They are a very nice class in the game, but it would be the best if they would be limited in number, like 2 per side (as well it would be great to have arty cap at 2)

 

Even worse.... T-50-2 give it back! :(

Lights were my favourite class, with arty on the second spot. I sold my 3 marked Chaffee and now they won't sell the 13 57 I needed for the Batchat. Lorraine looks good on paper but it's not a light.

 

Nowadays, feels a lot safer to play premium vehicles because those have a lower chance of getting changed for the worse.

 

Did this guy also advocated for the changes to arty? (I'll understand if you guys don't like it but it would be nice to know)

I usually follow the exact same tactic, but only with vehicles that can go pretty fast (65km/h+) Tried it with AMX 13 variants without much luck.

Map design doesn't generally allow lights to be lights. I just think of them as slightly UP mediums.
Don't think they will ever appear distinct as a class without the introduction of bigger maps.

I don't think that the Devs hate lights. I think that when they were talking about changing lights, many here (and likely on other server's forums too), including some really good players claimed that changing the MM for lights would make them OP and they would therefore have to be nerfed. And the Devs listened.

I am sure somewhere in an elementary school WG will find the "blueprint" of a Centurion-rec that would do as Tier 8-10 (as "proto", normal, "-1"    ) . For statts just take the existing tier 8, rename all guns, cut Pen by 20 mm, increase aim time by 0.5 sec, change accuracy to 0.56

Look what they have done to all the tier 6 lights. (I don't say they're all bad, but they are almost the same... )

Removed 28.01's derp, demoved 59-16's and T37's autoloader, and nerfed 12t's clip. Which is the only one that did'nt get nerfed? Of course, Type 64, because it's a premium.

Why the hell does the 59-16 gets only 360m view range? "YOu cAn ouTSpOT oTHer tUnKS WItH yoUR cAmo"

Well, Hellcat has better camo, better view range (370), it's a bit faster, so what are they talking about? 

Who plays T10 lights? Unicums. They are the only who can do something with them. But why would you play lights instead of meds? They are better in everything.

Lights are the most underpowered class nowadays.
