Howdy yo... (I jest)

Anyway I decided after getting bored of the T34-85 that I would like to expand my derp mc'derp tank options and can't figure what way to go, with main priority being fun and which tanks are most likely to extract the most on average on all maps considered.

I have a tier5 Sherman, derped out, of course, it can be really fun or really useless depending on tier, true of most tanks you may say yes but for a derp it's REALLY one or the other, it can go from beast to a dead duck in a matter of 2 battles anyway I digress as always..

Is the Sherman Jumbo derp worth taking on one tier higher? does all that extra armour actually have lols all day long for the sake of gaining the daunting prospect of being a total twonk vs tier8 HTs?

and now to the KV options.. KV1, more armour, this actually works well as top tier but a slow tank and armour doesn't work well as bottom tier or the KV1-S which has lesser armour that can be a little vulnerable even at top tier at times but yet has better mobility and given the fact both armours are nothing much as bottom tier, is the mobility of the KV1-S therefore the better choice of derp platform or is the KV1 worth putting up with at bottom tier for it's granite troll lols when it is top tier?

Thanks as always..

When it comes to Tier VI there is only 1 true derp. KV-2.

As for Tier V... KV-1S, probably.

KV-1S with it's mobility is actually rather good in a +2 game as a support tank vs the KV-1, even tho the KV-1 reloads a tad faster with the derp. And since it's a 122mm derp. The damage on a high roll can be a giggle vs most targets. As it can do 560 on a high roll.

Jumbo Derp is well worth it with the stock turret even. You have more armor then most tier 6 HT's you face. And most think your lower plate is paper... and spam rounds vs 300mm of effective armor. So it's not 100% useless in a +2 game either.

Hi!

I too wanted a mid-tier "derp" and have decided for Sherman M4. I even made a topic about chosen "peculiarities" : http://forum.worldof...__fromsearch__1

> Is the Sherman Jumbo derp worth taking on one tier higher?

IMX I'd say no. The same "derp" on M4 has already problems dealing with armored tanks, and it meets only tier-7. If you really want strong mid-tier "derp", there are heavies KV-2 and O-I. But 410 HE damage vs. tier-8 beast you'll fight in 50%+ battles... :(

A 105mm derp isn't going to do much against tier 8s unless you pick your targets carefully, know exactly where to aim to hit the thinnest pieces of armour, and pray to RNG that your shell actually lands there.

Forget about damaging most tier 8 heavies with it; at best you'll just tickle them.

No, much better to use a 12cm derp or one of even higher calibre.

Meaning: either of the KVs at tier 5, or the KV-2/O-I at tier 6.

Don't knock the Sherman Jumbo derp at tier VI before you've tried it.

It has a monster turret that even tier VIIIs will struggle with and you'll usually do around 100 damage with each shot against a heavily armoured tier VIII every 6.5 - 6.7 seconds. Against a poorly armoured target, you'll obviously be doing more.

Just forget about the 100mm hull armour, which doesn't stop very much, and crest ridges and hills to use the great gun depression and trollish turret.

Proof that it's not useless? My personal experience of playing it for fun.

I personally use and have very good results with the KV-1S derp ,Jumbo derp (W/ stock turret) and obviously the KV-2 derp.

Why pick one when they're all good in their own ways?

KV-2 lobs monster bombs but has a long reload

KV-1S lobs mid size bombs and has very useful HEAT when in tier V and VI games

Jumbo lobs small packages of love at a fast rate, and if using your depression to hide your hull, you can be a pain for the enemy to take out.

Don't forget that only one of them can mount vertical stabilisers, that really makes a difference with derp and autocannons.

Wolverine, mobile derp -> 3.300DPM

G1R, fast Shell  derp -> 2.500  DPM

PZ IV H - >2.700 DPM

Are also good options, I actually like them better

KV - 1s ->2400 DPM

Jumbo vs KV-2

Jumbo pro's

  • slightly more mobile
  • better armour (use stock turret though)

KV-2 pro's

  • better gun
  • Troll machine

Don't use derp on KV-1. It will just mean most other KV-1's (and other heavy tanks) will out trade you.

Derp on KV-1S on the other hand is the way to go. You're pretty fast, which means you can easily go for hit and run action.

Derp on the T5 sherman is the only way I've tried that tank. Just too bad you're a bit vulnerable.

It was a long time ago but I had one of my most fun games ever in a Jumbo Derp. Scouting for big boys and derping what I could.

The Kv1-S was fun but after a while it felt too much WoT in easy mode.

Derp gun and stock turret on the sherman jumbo is the way to go... i have had great games in it, derping Tier 8 tanks while hiding the hull never gets old.... but... with the recent skorpions, defenders... you have hard time when you show that turret. derping skorpions is awesome... but forget doing damage to defender with that derp...

to be honest i have placed the 76mm gun back on the m4 sherman and the jumbo recently as the derp gun is too crap.. armor is getting back into the game.. and the derp gun usually derps too much high.. so i went back to the 76mm gun.

But if you liked derp M4 at tier 5 you will also like it at tier 6 with the sherman jumbo. it might be more frustrating when you get into tier 7-8 games because of highly armored tanks.. but when you face paper tanks you can have lots of fun..

IMO that line is not a waste of time.

Pz IV is a great derp indeed. 3 marked it pretty easy with the derp.

Thanks guys, plenty to mull over there, why not all of them? Well.. I hate sub-par crew so would prefer to invest time in just one or two instead, also, maybe there might have been little difference them so might not be any point to pick up all of basically the same tank. This doesn't seem to be the case from what I'm reading in the comments here, far from it actually..

You know something I actually noticed the tier6 T34-85 I got bored with has a 122mm derp option too! With a 2800 dpm potentially with vents and rammer.. took it for test just now, was a total slaughter of a battle without 1 lost player omg lol!! so didn't get much testing with it but it hurt a few tanks and plenty of module damage inc a burn out so there's definitely potential with it, can only imagine drawn top tier dropping  a 122mm bunker buster on a T67 or Hellcat lol

I'm liking the look of this tank, is that spaced armour around it troll too? Looks like an even more troll version of the Hetzer

Love my derp jumbo.  Armor is valid, it's good against many tier 7 tanks.  With derp you can use the thicker stock turret - it can bounce t8 tank destroyers with bit luck.

105mm gun can hurt tier 8 heavies.  Shoot under sprocket wheel and splash bottom plate for 150'ish damages.  You can perma-track tanks behind corner and chew them up slowly by splashing trough front track. Also putting shells to engine decks is jumbo-chore because jumbo is quite tall and gun goes down.

You will always win slugfests against M4 And IV H dye your extra padding.

I think KV2 is the most derpy gun until you factor in the MM which generally puts them in with tier 8 tanks. In which case you will be like all the other rape victims in the game.

Jumbo seems a rather solid troll after KV2, its glacis stops a fair amount.

Lower down you have Sherman, KV1/1S and there is the French run away crew... Pz4 (which usually isnt that great inspite of its 105mm gun)
