...why not put the concept in the Frontline game mode? It would solve most problems

 

  • Arty can't do much without pushing forward, there would be far more obstacles where it couldn't shoot through (But 6 per team is insane 2 or 3 per side, OK)
  • Mausë and Type 5s becoming a problem wouldn't happen because those would be too slow (Not that the autoloading alternative is any better
  • Prem spam would depend on people stocking up on their garage first, which would also be controlled (provided people are clueless enough or forget they are supposed to)
  • Teamplay is reportedly better (but may be placebo effect)

 

In larger unknown maps, there's the mayhem that pretty much guarantees people won't follow a scripted gameplay which happens a lot in randoms. At least, up to a point.

 

It might be even easier on the devs too. We'd get two game modes by the price of one.

It's been a while since I've seen any Frontline (naming a game mode after an anti-flea product for cats and dogs is still amusing) footage, but from what I remember it looked so blatantly arcadey that I could never find any enthusiasm for it. So it's a good idea in my opinion. Dump all the Ranked crap into Frontline, and maybe give the Russian tanks the ability to fly at the same time.

Because the Frontline gamemode atm looks quite promising so WG has to think up of a catch to make it not worth playing.

The only reasons that tether me to this game are my Skorpion G, the future of SPGs and this game mode. I seriously hope WG doesn't frak it up. (Yes, I also watched BSG).

I imagine they are still having a nightmare balancing the mode around the differences in tank speed.  Slow tanks would be less than useless with such a large map.  Viewrange and mobility will be king (for better or worse).  Also, arty players will actually have to move, which will upset a few 'lesser abled' players.
