okay... how to play this tank so that the 25k grind doesn't take too long?

as far as I saw so far, it has:

- a useless gun with 56 pen... 56 !!

- bad camo for a scout

- mediocre viewrange

- mediocre speed

what advantage can it build on?

I have 104 games with 58% win rate against overall 48%, is clearly totally OP

Yeah I hated them (US/China) when I had to grind them, pretty useless scouts and pretty useless damage dealers.

The recipe is quite simple. Spot, assist, and annoy. Annoyed targets will chase you, and quite usually you can find a teammate that will help kill them. And assist, well, it is self explanatory. You see which enemy tanks are about to be overrun/killed, help finish them off.

But you will hardly have a positive winrate with that thing unless you platoon. I had a wonderful 39,29% winrate when I finished my grind for the M7.

And Duffer, you are talking of the Chinese Stuart. It has a gun with 81 pen. The American has only 56. Chinese is good, American is bad. Your stats for the American one has below 50% winrate.

The Chinese T4 is amazing!

I have 60% WR on it and crew is not yet fully trained.

I believe the M5A1 was a shade better. Passive scouting is next to no reward doing so. Active scouting is the thrill of speed and next to no reward. But I do recall the M5A1 could troll rather well on the right maps when auto aim was allowed so you could set your target (and keep it locked) before you started to scrap. But after its recent ban there is no way I can click target whilst firing and moving in crazy random ways to avoid being creamed. So the fun trolling days were well and truly over.

The Stuart, like the King, was decapitated by the authority and is now dead.

I ground the American one so long ago I have no idea what I did with it.  Probably buzzed around like an annoying bee and died a lot.  Played the Chinese variant more passively and used a bunch of free XP on modules.

Edit regarding Rocky Rollers post.  Auto aim is not banned  just mods that enhance auto aim.

I kept the M5A1 as a historical keeper in WoT, and have the crew double up in the Premium Type 59 so they get the exp.

This is not about the Chinese M5 nor about the M5A1 (which was fun to play).

This is about the horrible M5 stuart in the American tree.

As far as I understood, it had a much better gun before.

The scout MM helped the M5 too I think. It didn't have a good gun but could compensate by spotting. Again, there were fewer fast tanks then too.

The M5 is the single worst tank in WoT i've ever played.
Why? Because it's located in a tier range where you *have* to be the top damage dealer constantly in order to have a chance of winning.

And it simply doesn't have a gun.
It's like going to war in a jeep doing drivebys throwing rocks.
And you'll be doing that a LOT and just get frustrated by that clip. Single shot gun is even worse.

Yes you can scout, and be amazed by the fact your team is dying BEHIND you.

Didn't help that back when i ground this trash you had to use it to unlock TWO tank lines (m7 and chaffee)

Had a match the other day that came down to one of these vs a B1.

The M5 driver tried, I'll give him that...

Cobra 6

Um... Half point there.

It does suck as a damage dealer and dispatching arty isn't easy and while the T6 is auto, it worked better in the P-39.

But as scout? It's probably one of the best at low Tiers IMO. Ain't no Chaffee but I liked it. Got M medal just tomato spotting and finished at top of the team by exp (old patch, no VR nerf, etc)

i actually liked that tank surprisingly... not because it's really good or something but it's really fun and especially amusing when i was able to sneak up on arty and clip them while going 70 km/h... that said the chinese one is infinitely better just because of the penetration and no downsides when compared to the regular stuart

edit: it also wasn't really a keeper i sold it just to get the chaffee... still nothing special but fun
