So i was playing in my 113, the new patch has just come out and i was testing out the new gun depression values when i found my self in a struggle to stay alive because of a teammate!

It started when i was side scraping around the corner of a building, the 113 is quite fast so i got there before some of the other heavy tanks, but then came an Emil 2 who seemed a little upset that i was in a spot that he wanted to be in so he kept pushing me into enemy gunfire and i was taking some damage. Usually if something like this happened i would go and find another spot but i didn't want to leave as i had found a really good spot and i was racking up damage, but then he shot me, i didn't know if he had the 105 mm or 120mm but i know that he put 3 of his 4 round auto loader into me and i had taken about 900 damage from him then carried on blocking me. I shot him once as a warning to move otherwise i was going to die and he backed off. I thought it was over but a small time later he came back, quite low on health and put 1 more shot into me. By this time i had had enough so i shot him but i did not kill him, i think he had around 430 hp and i low rolled for a 400, then i was instantly logged out and banned for a day, but i noticed he was not banned after all the times he had shot me.

All i want to know is should he have got banned and how does this system even work?!! Surely the person who fires the first shot should be banned!? Not the one trying to defend themselves!? The automated system on this game has no idea whats going on...

This mostly tells me you shoot your teammates with some regularity and the Emil 2 player doesn't.

If you only shot once and got banned then you accumulated enough team damage in the games before.

this is a strange system though, i only ever shoot allies if they provoke me first and i dont seek them for the rest of the game to destroy them, they should have some kind of self defence system or just turn friendly fire off all together...

Well he shot him twice not once but your point still stands as he also got a one day ban not one hour.

For the OP: Yes it's annoying that the team damage system can't judge intent but as that's the way it's been implemented, don't shoot the green tanks however much they provoke you.

Yes, they should turn off friendly fire so you don't go around killing your teammates. A one day ban acknowledges you are a serial team killer, so your best 'self defence' against further bans is to go and see a psychiatrist.

*unless you are an arta player, then you can shoot your own quite safely, because when you hit your teammate, you just wanted to help him, of course

So what your saying is if an ally decides he wants to shoot me to death, the best thing to do is sit there and go 'oh well gg everyone, have fun shooting me in the [edited]for the next 30 seconds'

If you don't want to end up with a permanent ban then yes that's what you should do.

Team damage isn't considered on a battle-to-battle basis; it sticks with you until you've swung back your damage ratio between enemies/team mates towards the former. Since you got banned after only two shots and for a 24 hour period you've been doing more team damage than the Emil 2 player.

If he put 3 consecutive shots into you he would of turned blue then kill him at your leisure... so I think you're exaggerating maybe a little.

The situation of someone finding you in their favourite spot and then pushing you out is very common. Happens to me virtually 1 in 10 games, yes, it's really annoying. Golden rule though is NEVER NEVER NEVER deliberately fire at a teammate no matter how stupid they are being.

The only way this was someone else's fault was they didn't dodge your shots.

OP - remember that some players when they ram into you they dont do it on purpose.

It's not just shooting if I got this right, you have to be careful not to ram your teammates if they are very very low on HP's.

A good point, also isn't it so that even if they ram into you, the game might attribute the damage to you and possibly make you a team killer even if you didn't do anything?

Banned for 24 hours?  Repeat offender or cannot tell the difference between 1 hour and 1 day?

If repeat offender then you completely deserve it.

The latter I believe. He corrected himself in a follow-up post.
