Is it just me or are tier 7 mediums bad compared to their lower counterparts. Most tier 6 mediums are very well rounded with no weak stats. Tier 7 on the other hand seem like upgraded tier 6 and not worthy of new tier.

Cromwell>Comet (you loose a lot of speed)

Vk 30.02M>Panther (it just gets penetration, but worse speed and armour for its tier)

T34-85>T43/KV13 (bad penetration)

Vk30.01D>Vk30.02D (bad penetration)

I feel like you go up a tier and get one big weakness. Tier 8 is not much better for mediums either.

This is a comment that has been made before, that the tier 7 meds feel rather lackluster. Having said this, I actually like a few of them, namely the Comet, Panther and VK.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the Comet get like 12° of gun depression or sth like that, while also being able to mount Vert Stabs?

You´re right. But the Comet doesn´t bring much firepower to the table than a Cromwell. 140 alfa vs 135, 148 pen vs 145. That´s why the Cromwell is considered better tier for tier, because it brings almost the same firepower and is quite a bit faster on a tier lower.

I liked the Comet a lot when I played it, but that was a long time ago, before all the armour creep.

I like the 30.02d and the panther and the t20 , I think it's more a case of seeing tier 9 and the gap being huge

The T20, T-34-1 and Chi-Ri are decent T7 meds on my opinion.

But these are also harder to play due to harsher mm and stats wise them being less comfortable than most tier 6 predecessors.

I rather play any tier 7 tank than a tier 8 one...

There are some decent tanks in tier 7 but it's a filler tier to me.

True. Tier 6 has quite a spectrum of fun and potent mediums, while tier 7 as a whole is pretty lackluster in that regard. Most people even say the mediums at tier 8 are also not great for the most part, with the possible exception of the Object 416 for some reason (which is a pretty weird machine for a medium anyways). Just think about it and tell me if there is a tier 7 or 8 medium that you respect on the enemy team or even fear. I for one cannot really come come up with one.

It gets better at tier 9 though.

Depends on your preferance. They have completely different play styles. The two main strengths of the Comet are the 12 degrees of gun depression, ability to mount a v. stab and high base DPM (for a tier 7 turreted tank at least). If you can make those features work, you're away.

Comet is nice, but I don't know why it has pretty much cromwell gun, same with russian T-43, it has T-34-85 gun with slighty better reload. Not looking forward to playing that against Tier9, makes no sense (especially in box maps). I just don't get why some higher tiers have same top gun as tank that is tier lower.

And the turret armour is half decent.

T-34-100 was dreadful also.  Leo is not good.

T-34-1 and  Comet are the picks of the bunch.  That Chinese tank is so small...  Is a tank for ants.

Cosplay Panther (M10) I get along with for no apparent reason.

Leo is my favourite by far. Good gun depression, fairly mobile and a powerful gun. Next in line would be Comet. Chi Ri was fun when top tier, nice burst damage. Rest is redundant.

~150 pen is enough if you try to get them in the side/rear most of the time.

Used to be, though the HD model slapped the turret armour in the face a bit for no good reason.

I used to think so too when I first got it, but Comet is basically better than Cromwell at everything except for speed.

But yeah generally t7 meds are a bit worse tier for tier.
