Because he was one of few that actually did bother to play more then 20 games in the mode. And he got "carried" to get his win streak up. As all you have to do is not lose to get high on the ladder.

By reading one of the countless threads about this and understanding one of the major flaws that got discussed there.

If you throw enough at a wall, something will stick.

By the law of large numbers. Have enough participants, and some will be in top ranks. as Balc0re already explained.

It is skillbased, don't you know?

He is among the top 1% of the server. And the British is the evidence.

I guess like 20 000 (at most) got one of these marks to prove their skill....

Well, I'm still amazed how these players with over 40,000 battles and more STILL have no idea how to play this game...

I thought the strapline would continue "summon up the mental capacity to breath in and out".

Not for a 44%er. for someone near 50%, yes.

Let a bot take over when you are at work to ease the grind, with xvm-camo as additional bonus.

I've seen a couple of <48% with over 1k games in ranked.

Skillbased isn't something you can say 1 or 0 to. I would argue that the degree of "skillbasednes" depends on how many extra points are put into the system every battle, and the height of the upper cap.

If the cap was higher (not 5) it would mean a much higher degree of skilledbasedness. Yes, that is totally a word.

The same way he played 40k random battles in the first place.
He chose to put a lot of time and effort into that thing.

(Probably got carried too, but still, it's time and effort, - he had to finish at least 12th for those wins to count as chevrons...)

Newfalsh. Ranked had hardly anything to do with skill but was much more about investing all the time you had.

It was hard but I managed it.
