Don't have the 59 Patton, I rather like my Panther 8.8 but it's important to note that I have a weird thing about liking tanks that are generally considered to be quite poor by most of the community.

Obviously the Patton. The mazi Panther is trash.

The P88 is a bit better, I would say. Both tanks are playable, but the recent MM changes put both in a rather awkward position. Neither is terribly well equipped to deal with TX tanks.

Both are bad but with the upcoming pen buff the 59-Patton is getting there is very little the Panther 88 will have over it, tiny bit of DPM, more accurate but it's slower, with much worse gun handling, will have less pen on both rounds, less gun depression, less view range and less armour.

Yes the 59-Patton has the stupid cupola but the rest of the tank is decently armoured for a mobile tier 8 med, whereas the Panther 88 is autopen for everything but some bad tier 6 guns.

Panther 88 basically is a big tank, that goes 45kph, with no armour, not great pen these days and for some reason has a 2.4s aim time.  It also struggles massively in the current meta because it has to face tier 10s with a 237mm APCR premium round.  They should give it insane DPM, like properly insane (say 2.5 - 2.6k base) and like 1700 HP, so they make it like the medium version of Tiger 1. Lots of HP, lots of DPM, accurate gun. That would make it different and fun.

Both are bad. Even when the 59-Patton gets the 212 penetration buff it'll still be bad. Still if I had to play some tier 8 [edited]med with 240 alpha I'd probably pick 59-Patton because it has great view range and workable armor. The gun depression if memory serves is only -7 frontally but -9 on sides which isn't great anymore but it's enough to work with. The gun is basically the same as what STA-2 has except you get lower premium pen but better shell speed which often compensates.
