Hi

The M24 Chaffee did during it's service with the norwegian army get and upgrade too both engine and cannon (90mm)

Would that be an idea to add for the game?

No matter what the discussion topic is when it comes to the Chaffee, my answer will always be yes (except for turning it bad). :)

My fav tank. #ripchaffee

But on topic, I say yes. The ELC has a 90mm gun, so I don't see why not.

inb4 purists say otherwise because the 90mm gun is not american, etc or reasons

So... Basically like a German Bulldog we already have in game...

Honestly... I would say no to it. This game already has too many clone vehicles, and more are coming.

Would probably be a lot of fun to troll the mid tiers with a gun like that but it will most likely be nerfed to hell like gun on the ELC.

It's been considered by WG for the EU tech tree as a tier 7 premium iirc in several of their "proposals". But as of now. No plans to add the "Super Chaffee" to any of the current nations.

That is probably ages ago, because from what I recall the EU tree has been abandoned completely since they gave an independent tree for Czechoslovakia, Sweden, soon Poland and probably Italy and Switzerland in future.

Indeed. But that's the only time they have considered it. And not as a tier 5. Just to toss it out there. Tho as a "US" tank it could still work. But considering how long it takes them to get the T92 Light out. I'm not having much hopes for neither.

It could fit right in as an upgrade on the Chaffee we have, may have a better gun and turret, but i belive it would be as "easy" to deal with then as it is now. So as for OP I would dissagree.

But would be nice and fun with a set of bigger teeth :)

I guess time will tell.

American, just more upgrades for it, unless they come around on the euro tree. COuld possibly fit in a scandinavian tree...

Norway is part of the US now? Nor-way!

Bad enough that the Canadian Ram II is part of the US tree....

The 'Scandinavian' tree would be the NM116 (the proper designation) and BT-42, more or less. Rest would be Swedish tanks.

Gun type is somewhat similar to the SPIC, which means it's gonna be a shitty T7 LT. Strictly speaking it was classed as a tank hunter, not a light tank, with the HEAT round specified to 320mm of penetration flat.

Correct, you could possibly dig some tanks up but...you would be limited, so either a premium would do or additional upgrades to the US Chaffee.

I'm thinking upgrade wise, not as a seperate premium/LT, if they did that they could easily put it in the swedish tree.

I agree that the NM116 ought to be in-game. Its basic form was prolific in west European armies, and on a whole it was in service in 29 countries up until ...well, now actually. This is possibly the most rounded version of it.

My proposal is to have it in tier 6 tank destroyer (which it was supposed to be) , with a 90 mm gun akin to the one the ELC has. And since its a low-pressure gun it could fire HEAT and HE. There was another upgunned version with a 105 mm gun that could possibly fit.

It would fit nicely into the Swedish tech-tree. It should preform almost as good as the Type 64 LT.

And this is how you properly necro a thread. You must always start with "I agree."

It helps he found a dead thread that is still relevant.
