Hello,

Does anyone know, the new graphics engine will be in the 9.20 patch?

or when will the test server be available?

Theres no new graphics engine coming in near future, only HD maps and they haven't set a release date for them so I doubt it's going to be in the next patch.

It's what they use in Grand Battles.

BW alone isnt any help

WoT runs a heavily modified BW1

while WoWp and WoWs already uses the BW2 engine

They gave some info out around Gamescom time.  They tweaked the engine to cope with the larger map and were using GBs to test it for HD.  Needed to make it possible for lower end PCs to run it.

I doubt it will be this year. Considering WG have said that all patches up to March will be balance only. And the test is only for 9 maps. I would say Summer at the earliest.

They said that they are releasing HD maps in tranches rather than all at one go now so we may get these 9 by Xmas.

Maybe they upgrade WoT BW1 to BW2 engine.

Yup Havoc enabled on HD maps, but I would be more impressed with DX12 support.

Maybe 2019 because only 3 map is HD ready. And all maps is old maps. OLD.

No new maps. Nice facelifts but all maps is old maps and this is super boring.

Not a surprising name; apparently graphics quality is to become the very 'core' of attraction of WoT.

Gotta wonder if those twelve maps are just to get some 'focused' statistics or if they have actually just managed to complete twelve out of 30+ (?) over the course of a year.

As for new maps; the current maps are bad and stale. I can live with either - though I strictly prefer a few good maps with variety rather than a lot of bad maps with less variety (the latter is what we have now). Wouldn't be a horrible move to launch HD maps week-after-week to make players a bit more used to them... though I'm guessing that what appears to be a massive fudged-up delay with HD maps means they kind of have to get everything ready before they even think of implementing it into a patch...

Engine related:

Q: Will the current engine limitation on 127 fps be removed with the introduction of the new HD maps (graphic engine)?

A: We are aware of the increasing usage of high end monitors (144hz and 165hz). The idea of the limitation with the 127 fps is not because of the client itself, it is the due to the previous limitation of the Big World server engine. As mentioned before, the player client has been completely rewritten with our proprietary engine. The Server engine is also now being re-written and so such FPS limit is not needed. We are thinking of removing it or changing the FPS limit, it is in the stage of testing however this might not be changed in sandbox

Q: The camera overhangweird camera behaviour (e.g. the gun aims upwards when you quickly switch in and out of arcade mode when you have some kind of cover above your tank) is kind of annoying not only when testing the HD maps but also on live server, will they be fixed?

A: We are aware of the issue, unfortunately we have no obvious solutions as of now. However, since the introduction of the “Pilsen” (Tank Factory map) we have tweaked the logics behind the camera direction. It helps with the situation but it is still not perfect. World of Tanks camera behaviour is far more complex than a normal FPS game (unlike FPS, WoT Tank camera also has to take many more factors into consideration, such as turret and gun traverse speed etc.) There is no simple solution as of now, but hopefully with future technology we will be able to solve this issue.

Yeah if you call random bits from big world and Havok their own engine then sure it is.

Core engine is what fuels minecraft :teethhappy:

Yeah, they're mashing things together, that will eat your RAM better than Google Chrome.
