So upon receiving my new razer deathadder chroma, I booted up razer synapse and strted toying around with the macros, my previous mouse was some obscure off brand gaming mouse, but it did the job and served me well. I started testing out the macros by loading up cookie clicker and creating a high cycle macros with a 0.001 second delay to basically lick for me. whilst doing this i started to wonder about the applications for WOT and whether or not it would be considered cheating to use a macro for the fire extinguisher.

what I propose is this, if I were to rebind the extinguisher key to one of my mouse buttons, aposed to the standard 6 key (which I already have done and allows me to put out fires faster then normal)  and then set a toggle macro on the mouse to basically make the game think that I'm constantly pushing the extinguisher key, which in turn would basically act as an auto fire extinguisher. now obviously there's nothing wrong with rebinding a key to give yourself a slight advantage, if there were they wouldn't give you the option to do so in game. However if I were to assign this macro would it be considered cheating, as it's not exactly exclusive to my mouse, windows has a built in macro function for windows mice and many gaming and none gaming mice come with programs that let you bind macros to them.

I'm asking all of this for 2 reasons, firstly I don't want to go ahead and do it then get banned (I've invested way to much of my time and money in this game to get banned at this stage) but also to see what other peoples opinions on this are?

Fire extinguisher, meh. Make this macro for "Defend the base" command instead.

This seems like it's referring to using bots and macros to play the game for you with very little input from the player. In theory it just works as an auto extinguisher whilst the player is actively playing the game.

Wouldn't WG pick that up easily? In the recent ban waves a whole bunch of the banned russians were mainly caught for using some mod that turned a normal FE into an automatic one.

So dont do it. 1) You are quick enough via the bind 2) You miss the passive protection bonus from AFE.

Problem would be that if you use a small repair kit or first aid kit, everytime you try to use it the fire extinguish macro would disable it, meaning you can't repair or get crew members back.

Besides that, binding your fire extinguisher to one of your mouse buttons (I have mine set to clicking the scroll wheel) will already make it go quite fast ;3

edit: hm, i seem to make more errors late at night on my phone than I think I do.

That is a fair point, it would sort of render everything else redundant ;P

I PMed MrConway a few months back regarding a macro I made, which was purely garage related (it was for automatically removing people on my blacklist). Quote:

You mean in game? As long as you are in the garage you aren't breaking any rules in my opinion :)

I think, binding a key thats closer to your finger / thumb / or what-ever to make it faster / more comfortable for you is fine.... but making it so it does it on it's own (turning a standard to auto, would be cheating), just my 2p

As other's already said. Binding extinguisher to mouse is perfectly fine, but setting macro is cheating. But IMO you should use AFE anyway (unless they severely rebalanced them with introduction of consumable cool-downs), AFE's passive effect (decreased fire chance) is worth it.

and having an <thing> that says fire the extinguisher continuously, (regardless of whether or not I am on fire)  while I do something else, seems like it's what?

Edit: Proposal: We could of course test this in a pseudo scientific manner; You could use your cheat, while I could not use your cheat

He who is permanently banned first wins! Good Luck!.

WG does not support a free replacement of premium fire extinguisher.

I have fire extinguisher set to the middle mouse button. It's much easier to find in a panicked situation.

However you cannot enable anything which will make the standard fire extingusher work automatically. This is cheating.
