Since I refuse to buy any more gold, premium time, or premium tanks until WoT resets the light tanks to their pre-9.18 condition, I decided to retrain skills with silver (credits). The way this works, as many know, is you pay 20,000 credits for a 90% reset. So if you want to reset a skill to a 100% level, your crew member must be at 100% plus 12%. I worked my 12T commander up to 100% camo + 14% unassigned. Then I reset with credits. 114% X 90% = 102.6, right?

Wrong. 114% x 90% = 98% in WoT land. It must be what they taught in Bylorussian schools.

Wrong.

That first 12% of training of the 2nd skill takes only 3131 exp.  The whole of the first skill takes 210064 exp, indeed the last 1% of the primary skill takes 9550 exp.  You must have noticed how it takes more exp for every %point of training though?

When you reset you lose 10% of the exp, not 10% of the training level.  You need about 42% 2nd skill to do a reset for credits and keep the first skill intact.

As Homer_J said, each % of each skill increases from the last,

Eg: 1% = 1xp / 2% = 2xp / 3% = 4xp etc etc..

Really not that difficult.

It is as Homer_J says. the 20,000 credits is to retrain the crew to 90% of their total experience (not 90% of whatever their displayed % is).

On a related note, does anyone have a mod that better shows the crew experience?  As in, shows the actual experience and not the % i.e. 35,000 (55%) / 64,000 [29,000 (45%) to go].

I believe Aslains mod pack has a mod for that,

The only thing you should do for credits is retraining crews.

If you're gonna reset skills, you'll lose 10% of that crew member's total experience.

Next skill takes double xp as its previous, so in the long run, it can translate into a massive bleeding of accumulated xp if you don't spend gold.

Indeed, retraining primary crew skills is OK for credits (you can get from 90-100% in like, what, 15-20 games?).  Do NOT retrain additional skills/perks for credits as this loses LOADS of accumulated XP (exponentially more).

i never spent any gold for resetting my crew/skills ... you can work around it if you actually  plan how you want to train your crew

I have been on a gold boycott since WoT nerfed the VK 28.01, the T37, and other LTs in the 9.18 reset.

Credits work fine for resetting the first skill & even the second - you can get to 42% on the second skill quite quickly & reset skill one at 100%.  What takes the time is going from 40% to 100% but it's only a few games to clock up 42%.

If you retrain with credits, remember that the more skills your crew has, the more XP you will lose (as it is percentage based). If you are 50% on the third skill, then retrain the crew to 90% and then reset the skills for silver also, you will lose a ton more XP than if you reset the first skill at 50%. I recommend retraining to 90% and then just training the crew regularly if possible, ideally with premium tanks and/or boosters.
