To start off, I stopped playing World of Tanks about 2 years ago and I played on console. I got to the M48 Patton. I was mostly a medium tank player but I would have got bored playing the same tech tree two times.

I wanted to start on PC, I started playing roughly two weeks ago and I got to the M103.

A lot has changed in those 2 years of me not playing(Lots of rebalances, map changes) and I would like some help on how I should use the M103 and if possible, tactics for each map as I struggle to decide where to go. Maybe there is a thread on here is someone can link me that.

Maybe even give some tips and tricks about the M103.

And if this helps: I have a female commander with sixth sense, BIA and training mentor at the moment. Every other crew member has repairs and is training BIA. Is the mentor a good idea? So far I have the first 120mm gun and the upgraded turret. I was thinking of researching the tracks last as when I was previewing the vehicle before I had it, it fit all of the modules no problem with the stock tracks.

Thanks :)

What is your problem?

You struggle to deal damage? You are getting penetrated? You keep losing games?

Well my problem is that I often find myself in situations where I find myself in the wrong position most of the time and I just get yoloed, my team has a clear shot on the enemy but they just ignore it. And yes I do get often penetrated. And yeah I often do lose games because of this. I've played 29 battles in the M103 and I have a 34% winrate.

M103 is tank great in hulldown tactic. Try hide your hull and use solid angles on your tower. Your armor though is not enough to be of first line, stay in second one just behind well armored tanks like e100 or st-1.

Lets give a scenario: Its mid to late game, I'm left on 500hp. It's a city map and our well armoured tanks are dead. How would I work corners? I know side scraping is an option but I get penetrated, I don't know if I am over angleing or exposing my hull. But then if I do hide my hull, I get penetrated in the side.

remember you are mobile enough to change position efectively. But yes you need to try hide your hull at all cost, behind wreckage or keeping front close to wall trying sidescrape. Sometimes its more effective to leave trade shotting with heavies and drive to help your meds. Its all abiut situation.

Well, the problem is, that nowadays, you need to hide the turret as well and that's not an easy job given how huge it is. You cannot play this tank as a heavy any longer, with all of the buffed firepower around. Id' say best tactics by far - parked in the garage waiting for better times :(
