Nice joke. Nebelburg's far too new anyway to actually benefit from some new 'meta thoughts' like removing basefap positions and whatnot.
At this point it's kind of obvious that the goal is to cater to certain player brackets as much as they can, while either ignoring or pretending that stuff like bonds and ranked battles will keep the more dedicated players interested. You'd think it would make more sense to cater to the more dedicated players (and hope that the more casual ones go along with it), or at least make changes that benefit certain player brackets while not annoying the crap out of the others.
Also, it's been over a year since we saw the preview trailer for the HD maps (https://www.youtube....h?v=pYI7o7AnuKw). If the maps provided in the HD maps test weren't simply for testing the game engine, they've pretty much done nothing but make the maps look nicer and not change them for the better.
Not sure if I should be sad or amused that a graphical remake takes so long. Yeah, it is necessary to keep the game fresh, but attracting new players won't do them much good if all the old ones leave because they're tired of seeing the same shitty maps without any changes for over a year. Combine with WGEU's terrible approach to communication and player relations for extra strength.
