It's a bit outdated now, but the buffs to IS-7 in 9.20 together with the nerfs to Maus (DPM) and Type 5 ("weak"spots and less mobility) might make it interesting yet again.

Regardless, the line is arguably overall good, the T9 (T-10) is probably the highlight and a great T9 tank.

At this point forget grinding any line, just focus on mastering your current tiers first.

And just to make it clear: I am not trying to be rude, I was prolly once like you, but then I took arrow to the knee. I mean this is what I hope someone would have told me when I had same amount of battles, and I hope I would have listened.

It is often recommended as THE best line for newer players to grind due to a lot of the tanks in the line having a relatively forgiving playstyle.  No real bad tanks in the line really and you soon learn some of the basics (armour angling, when to poke, pushing flanks etc).  So yeah, go for it.

Ok sounds good, im currently at the T-44 at tier 8, and i havent unlocked the LB-1 yet, i do terribly on this tank, literally never pen a tank.

Any suggestions for a tank/line i might enjoy?

I have currently;

T1 Heavy.......

KV85......

VK36.01 (H)........

Jagdpanzer IV.........not sure if i like TD playstyle.....

VK16.02 Leopard......

Type T34........

As you can see i have a lot of tanks and im yet to really find a tank/class i truly enjoy playing, ill be honest i do best in my premium tier 5 Churchill LOL

I have the IS-7, it's a fun tank and fairly foolproof.  But IMO if you want an easy HT line then Jap > all.

ITS a hard one. I loved t10, then I bought is7 and rage sold it after 1 battle. I personally hate it with a passion. Slow, bad gun. I wont want it even after the buff.

T6-8 chinese LTs are quite good and fun to play. T9-10 are just too underpowered compared to T9-10 MTs. Chinese meds can be fun but the line itself is not worth it, 121's only advantages compared to 113 is ~100 more dpm and slightly better pen. and maybe better mobility on flat crounds. On the other hand, 113 gets more raw hp/ton, better armor (+ some spaced on the sides) and a lot better gun depression (on the sides ). I hope you 'll find this useful.

It's a sexy tank, has pretty good armor and mobility and they're even gonna buff the mobility (quite a bit!) and gun handling. I'd say it's worth getting for randoms. The IS-7 can be a beast if you're in a 3/5/7 matchup especially after the buffs.

I have a full girl crew in mine. Just because it's so sexy. It makes sense that Russian women drive it.

it has speed, it has armor, it has NO CUPOLA!!!!! to shoot at, side armor is ridiculously op.  gun is accurate

It's easy to play, but has limited potential atm. For example, fv215b is the exact opposite. Hard to make it work, but can do miracles if you can handle it

in most polite way.... sgyester, dont talk stupid things.

is7 is op and gun is accurate...i mean, what to say on this...

OT, probably. is7 line is user friendly,  and you will have nice tanks for missions.

is7 is quite nice after buff.

not as wz 5a imho, but for new players, is7 is betteer option

I think its good to set yourself targets. BUT be sensible about it. DO NOt make the same mistakes I did when I wanted the T95 American TD.

Firstly your time in it, be patient. Carefully and correctly train the crew so that as you advance up the tiers you will have a good crew by the time you reach the IS7. Dont rush the line. Research each tank on the way so you learn its strengths and weaknesses. Learn about the your tanks weak spots so you can hide them, learn about your enemies weak spots so you can shoot them. Learn when and when not to use premium ammo.

Even consider setting targets fro each tier. For example make sure you ace each one or perhaps at least one MoE on each or even have a certain number of crew skills by a certain tier or something.

be patient, it takes time. Then if you dont like it or change direction etc. then at least you will have a half decent crew to work with.

I did the polar opposite and really suffered. I didn't learn game mechanics, weak spots and or how to play the tanks on route. I got to the T28 and basically got nailed. I turned into a large bag of HP to shoot at, and they did. I got impatient and free Xp'd to the T95 where it was rinse and repeat. I went back to Tier 4 and stayed in my little hole in an overpowered T40 for quite a while until I started to figure out what I needed to do. That coincided with the nerf to the T40 funnily enough.

I'm still crap but a better level of crap than I was. Secondly I have a logical set of crews growing as well.

Just a side note I've also recently realised what a huge benefit a premium account gives. Grinding a whole line without it is pretty painful. It takes ages and you are very credit poor when you start to get to the higher tiers. This means playing other lower tier tanks to build up the credits again.

It's always a bad idea to only look at what waits at the end of a line. Why do you even want a tX tank?

Pick a line that looks interesting, take your time, don't rush it, slowly learn to play and discover that there is more than one tank in the line.

Rushing the tiers is the worst thing you can do in this game, you'll end up being the same kind of burden to your team like a BOT would be.

Play (grind is the wrong word for those tanks) the line till tier 10 - wether you buy it or not hardly matters given how it is one of the few lines that are decent from tier 5 on.

IS: the accurancy and aim time might suck, but you get to brawl with 400 alpha and well: stalin helps with non-existant accuracy. (cannot recall any other tank where "pretend to aim 1 sec and then rely on stalinism to hit" applys more). Mayxbe not to best tier 7, but you don't have to rely on team, MM or map rotation, it works acceptable anywhere.

IS3: used to be the king of tier8, now a bit in the shadow of the defender, but still a decent all-rounder

T10: IS3 in fast and harder hitting - very good tier 9, especially with the current MM.

IS7 is a bit "aged" but being russian you can rely on it getting buffed.
