Third-party modifications or mods, are tweak scripts working on the Game Client. They use available information and present it differently.

The most common mods, change the User Interface of your garage, give a you different shape of reticle or provide minor aesthetic tweaks. We are OK with such mods.

On the other hand, there are unfair mods and unauthorised third-party software that provide unfair advantage in combat. We are NOT OK with this.

First.

Oh and yes, I'd love to see XVM gone from the game.

Because WG doesn't care.
And because XVM is so deeply rooted into the game that it would annoy a lot of bobs. And who knows... maybe WG profits from its existence in a certain way.

But... yeah. For the most part they simply don't care.

It's a good question, since XVM  (the stats part) provides an unfair advantage. And it adds lots of toxicity to the game in my opinion.

However, when it is a authorised third-party software it will not be counted as an unfair mod. I guess WG likes  it & profit from XVM, since it adds some kind of competition / leaderboard what WoT don't have on its own. Also it had lots of nice additions&ideas what made the game more comfortable over years.

It profits WG, because it makes 3rd parties (modders and mod-users, and obviously various stat tracking sites, as well as avid e-shlong comparers) more or less directly advertise their product.

Partly so via non-official channels (outside WG-owned forums), which translates to kind of like word-of-mouth propaganda (or even a small part of pop culture), in this day and age.

=> So they most surely must care about this. :)

(And that might be one of the reasons why it's still in.)

XVM exists because it encourages stats oriented gameplay. When there's a top tier 46% player and everyone can see that during the battle he gets told to uninstall, to get cancer or to kill himself and instead of WG seeing a problem in here, they are happy to "encourage" the 46% player and everyone else to spend money to avoid stat damaging gameplay like stock grinds, and so they can afford to spam gold. Wargaming sees the toxicity as an opportunity to pocket some quick money while, as usual, forgetting the long-term damage they cause by making lots of players quit. But in the next quarterly report, a stats oriented community is a good thing when you have obvious pay-to-win elements in the game because people are encouraged to take advantage of them.

Of course the reverse is also true - the guy with 60% win rate is going to get more arty focus and yoloing by the malicious forever bad [edited]bots who aren't learning anything so their pleasure comes from isolated cases where they ruin the game for the unicum. These players are known as "griefers" and XVM allows such players to "enjoy" the game more.

Basically XVM is a big, malicious tumor for the game but Wargaming are letting it be because it encourages people to spend money and keeps the griefers happy.

I've seen the level of toxicity in WoWs dramatically reduced wihen "hide the stats" was introduced. Instantly was more pleasant to play.

Hell no. It should be possible to watch everyones stats - just not in a running match.

Hiding stats would open the doors for abuse and hate... you would create another annoying problem. And in that case I'd rather keep XVM.

It was exactly the opposite in WoWs. It immediately closed the doors to abuse and hate.

To be fair, what I meant was mostly chat- and forum-related. You wouldn't be able anymore to expose dumb people and bad players who come and claim all sorts of BS.

And changing the game for a mod that should obviously be banned is stupid in general.

I'd support no XVM If someone wants to check stats - they can do it in the garage.
