I've decided to spend a bit more time playing WoT after a busy period where I mostly played the odd 3am battle due to being unable to sleep.  I am going to grind to the Foch, as I wanted that tank prenerf and am glad I finally have a reason to resume the grind, both russian TD lines, 'cause that has been on my to-do list for years, and I have been considering the Deathstar.

I am at the Tortoise now after years of on again, off again grinding, and I'm not enjoying it as much as the AT15.  Because there are other tanks I know I want to grind for, it wouldn't bother me to put this line on hold again.  What is the Deathstar to you?  Is it an unreliable and expensive to run derp novelty, or is it still one of the most desirable and feared tier X's?  I don't rely on prem ammo to perform in any of my tanks, but I would be willing to load gold fully in the 183 if it was a lot of fun to do so.  Let me know...

You left one option out:

  • A fantasy space-ball that a bunch of nerds pushed to be built for real asking the US Congress  (that's how we know how many quadrillion dollars would cost)

:teethhappy:

On topic, give it 15 shells.

Yeah, 12 rounds seems a bit light.  I don't know if I will be able to perform under the pressure of having to make every single shot count.

I would totally serve on the Deathstar.  I rooted for the Empire when I was a kid.  Poor Vader...so misunderstood.

A HESH pen still needs to land on a soft spot for tank, so some skill for proper use it requires. It has a different nickname - rng slot machine - and it describes gun behaving greatly.

This is a fun tank, and needs huge investments to operate properly (70-100 k credits per game). Not a tank of my taste.

AP shells are ok, but GH is so awfull, that using HESH is a lot more reliable to deal damage at all. Using HE is a choice as well, especially when paper tanks are present.

Its just another tank is all and the players driving it are what make it either a pain in the back side to deal with or just a walk in the park to take out.

Seems like a bit of a one-trick pony to me. Either does stupidly well in the hands of a player who can actually aim and has an awareness of the tanks strengths and weaknesses or gets sent to the garage quickly because some tomato blew his load too soon and gets swamped whilst the crew tanks half an hour to reload.

It doesn't strike me as being as pure BS when compared to the Type 5 with its literal P2W premium ammo. I mean, it still has armour but lacks a fully traversing turret and it has a pretty weak hull.

What the Deathstar is to me?

A tank to be researched, purchased and fielded. To then dispatch people saying it is a broken vehicle.

What is Deathstar to me?

Ultimate RNG launcher. But it also is quite intimidating and creates fear factor, so there is that

I wish it was reworked a bit.

a near useless pile of scrap.

AP (310 pen) bounce lights most times or just tracks

HESH that is more random than a womans logic (hit a T49 L for less than 149 in the arse)

nose to nose with an E100 and did more dmg to myself

as for the accuracy, ur lucky to hit the map let alone a tank

maybe 1 in 6 games I do ok / well in

I've only recently obtained mine.  I've no camo for it and I'm waiting for the periodical half price sale.

i cant vote, cause its none of the above

the hesh shells are unreliably.  u usually will do 5/600 damage.  if ur lucky u get one of the higher rolls when u shoot in back or side of turret,

armor wise its decent.

speed, lacking.

unlock it, dont buy

You should ask this to the 2 billion souls lost in Alderaan.

What is the deathstar? the 183b?

if so, it is the enemy tank I try to hide from if it's spotted, regardless of tank I drive.

getting 2-shot in E100 is not fun.

its embodiment of dissapointment...

its RNG based derp with no other strenghts other than alpha damage and buttload of weaknesses ...

remove the useless HESH, improve its gunhandling and accuracy to the level of JPZE100 and buff its hull armor -  its made from weakspots ammoracks and engine that gets damaged every time it takes damage.

Simply put JPZ E100 is superior to Deathstar in every way, the only reason 183 was interresting was its HESH which was since nerfed to uselessness. IF 183 had the accuracy and handling of real TD then low pen high alpha HESH would make sense, but as it is its better to run mix of AP and HE rather than waste credits on HESH that will not pen anyway ...
