Just reading a post where some were comparing stats of guy that posted initial question, he had some 20k battles with win rate of some 46%. Others seemed to be questioning his audacity with a WR of that how he was in a position to pose a question. Now I know mine aren't great but....

Do you play for:

Fun, you enjoy playing with tanks.

Winning, no matter what your stats are very important to you.

Or is it a combination of the 2 but with a greater emphasis on fun or winning.

Or is it something thing else that keeps bring u back to the game.

In my case it would be fun 75%, winning 25%.

Just curious......

Why would anyone play a game if it wasn't fun? If it isn't fun then I'm not going to play, winning is usually more fun than losing, playing well is more fun than playing badly, tier 6 is more fun than tier 10. I could be better at the game, but then it's entering the realm of being a chore and ceases to be fun so there'd be no point playing.

Everyone is going to say they play to have fun, but there are different definitions of fun. Some people like to drive around and sometimes shoot something, others like to have a pretty colour next to their name on a third party site. Most people fall somewhere between the definitions.

I played You don't know jack to lose.  That was such a good game to be abused by.  Much smarter than the dross people throw at me in this game.

I read a thread a few weeks back where a guy said fun was irrelevant and winning was everything. He then went on to accuse anyone with a different outlook of being dumb.  I like to think he chose his words poorly.  But part of me thinks not.  Even top paid professional sports people play for the enjoyment of what they do.  People like Lewis Hamilton get paid to do something they would pay to do.  That is the entire point.

A follow up question would be: is it fun to lose?

I play for fun. It is fun to find enemy tanks, shoot them, damage them, kill them and WIN. It is not fun to watch 29 other players playing while camping in a bush "protecting arty" and then die having done NOTHING and (inevitably) lose far more often than you win.

That doesn't seem to stop some numpties, however.

I play for clan wars and strongholds. As clan wars haven't been enabled for a long time, my activity has drastically decreased. Hopefully, cw will come back in an improved way.

I play for fun the randoms. I only care about my stat when I need to find another clan.

SH/CW is a different thing. It is more success oriented.

What always amazes me is when I see a 50K + player with nw8 of 400 and 45% wr, why do they still play? It can't possible be 'fun' for them unless they like the defeat music :)

I play because I like to unlock stuff and tanks. Like a lot of the guys here, I've played this initially just to try the Tiger. Needless to say, I ended up doing 2-3 shots of damage per game and losing badly so I wanted to get better at it.
Here I am, over 20.000 battles later and still enjoying it, with plenty of lines left to finish.

Let's say that I play WoT because, really, there isn't any competitor out there that offers anything better. It's a niche game that I happen to like a lot. Yes, I've got my moments when I get angry after losing several matches in a row or get the ocassional troll but other than that, it's a nice game.

Joined the game because of my love of tanks. Aspects of this game really piss me off, but its tanks, so I can't help msyelf.

I tried the competition, not my cup of tea. One doesn't focus on the period of tank history that appeals to me and the other just doesn't feel right even though it looks good.

It's a game. Ergo it should be fun. It isnt sometimes - it's bloody awful, and not always when losing. Some of my favourite games have been ones I ended up losing as the last tank alive 1 on 1 and getting killed by a better player (or being 1 on 1 in my Duck with no ammo and trying to ram someone to death).

some victories have been dull boring affairs when my Churchill couldnt get near the fighting.

For yonks my idea of fun was the old T50 running around as a scout and its successor the MT25 - half the time dying before the end of battle.

For most people, like me, the game has a very steep learning curve that never ends - every death is a learning curve on how not to die next time.

But the GOOD games make up for it. Just.

OP you seem to suggest that winning in a game and having fun in a game are mutually exclusive. They are not.

I play for fun. Winning is also fun, but good battle is better.
