Personally I play TDs almost exclusively, around 95% with the other 5 with arty.

I realise that this can be a penalty in so far as choice of map can determine whether or not I can be effective. Small and city maps are not the best but rough with smooth as old saying goes. Where as LT, MT & HT can usually excel in any given map.

Can you please keep MM out of the answers as there are numerous other posts relating to this thorny subject. I don't mind being bottom tier, in fact I enjoy the challenge, T8 UDES in T10 match bring it on....Now where is that 2 key:)

Now am I in the minority in playing with, almost, a single class, what do you play?

Just curious.

I play everything except arty, although lately I have been playing TDs less and mediums more.

I dotn really have a class preference, I just look at the tank.

I used to play HTs, but got frustrated due to the constant clicker barrage.

Moved to LTs and MTs. As LTs became useless, and don't have the credits to play MTs (thanks to the new-era HTs..)

Now I tend to play with just a few selected tanks.

Mostly MTs, because they're fast but not useless like LTs. Have a loads of games in HTs but that's from back in the day and HT prem tanks. I find the TD gameplay too boring and same goes for SPGs.

Started by playing TDs, but now find the playstyle too tedious (although currently grinding Foch line, god help me). Arty even less exciting. Lights can be fun, but very frustrating when TD players refuse to reposition to hit targets you are spotting. All about meds and heavies for me now. If I'm going to play a game I'd rather get close to the enemy and see the whites of their virtual eyes.

What matters most is if a tank can get things done. Used to play a lot of medium tanks, but I've come to realize that maps either favor heavies or at least has some option for them. A heavy tank is less useless on Malinovka than a light tend to be on Paris, for example.

Overall it's become rather balanced. Still, current grinding efforts are concentrated on strong heavy tanks, though I have some light, medium and TD 'keepers' or premium tanks that I enjoy playing regardless. TDs can be accetable if they have some offensive options, e.g. the 704 can work allright as an assault gun. RHM not so much.

Swedish TDs work equally well as long- and mid-range fire support, has armor that works sometimes and are fast enough to run away. Makes for some relaxing games, though carrying in them is rather hard - they're simply not flexible enough. Still, doesn't really matter too much, the S1 can be relevant in most games, and credit gain is not that dependant on winning or losing.

(Due to the first reason, I've tried and stopped playing arty five or six times due to them having arguably little impact on 'dynamic' games and being even more map-sensitive than lights.)

I've played every class in the game because I don't want to miss a gem of a tank that really clicks with me- no arty pun intended. Some of my favourite "keeper" tanks are often criticised on the forums including the Archer, Su-85 and Crusader (my first and only 3-mark tank) I might have avoided them or tried to skip them if I'd taken any notice of the forum.

First of all- I don't play arty. Not now. After the big arty nerf- which was so long ago now that I don't recall, was it 9.16?) I sold my keeper arties apart from the T57 and when that went I sold its replacement. I needed to find something for missions so I tried the, new-to-me, French and UK lines, tried Soviet arty and continued the US grind. I found UK SPGs good for PMs where you had to hit things and the M40/43 netted me most of my missions for the T-55a (now complete). Since then I have parked up my only remaining SPG (M40/43) and haven't played a single game with the new stun mechanics. Nor do I intend to unless I ever get to another set of PMs.

Of the tanks and TDs I have 81 other vehicles in my garage. Eliminating a few such as Premium gift tanks, two new LTs and a few new vehicles with zero battles, I have the following:

Thirteen HTs, but I would say that at least two are under threat of being sold due to underperforming. 19.5% of my battles are in HTs. I don't perform all that well as a front-line brawler. The ones I have kept have an edge for me that help me to do better in them.

Nineteen MTs, but there are at least two/three which are again, under threat. 19.6% of battles in MTs. I like MTs because they are versatile and can fill gaps in the team line-up. Fast enough to get out of trouble and relocate, but hard hitting as well. MTs are definitely my second favourite class.

Thirteen LTs. Because LTs are what they are I don't always do brilliantly in them. I am keeping the AMX 13 90 as a mission tank but otherwise I would probably sell it. 19.2% of battles in these.

But it is TDs that are far and away my favourites. 31.9% of all battles in them and I have 26 of them in the garage. I have- where I have skills- tried to max out on camouflage and view range first of all to give me the best chance of being more independent. I have often been utterly shocked at how I can hide and shoot and shoot and shoot without being spotted. Funny as hell. The only TD that I have which is really under threat of being sold is the Ferdinand. It seems to suit me much better than the JP II (DON'T ask) but I am still only just maintaining that positive WR. The WT Auf Pz IV is another that is borderline but already has a negative WR. It got me TD-15 recently, so it is worth keeping for a while. We'll see.

I've started with the E100 line as it had the Tiger. Couldn't get the hang of it and kept ending sideways in front of the enemies so I went down the German TD line at the time (Jagdpanzer E100 line). Being a noob I was pointing the gun towards the enemy and thus the strongest armor.
After that I tried everything in the game, no matter the class, with the point being to reach tier 8 with every line.

Now, some 20.000 battles later I no longer touch artillery (no need to, as I was an artillery guy in a previous clan) and light tanks, as they kinda suck in my hands and have no interest in the personal missions anymore (not for the Obj 260 at least).
So heavy tanks, medium tanks and TDs are what I play at the moment, with the sole purpose to reach tier 10 on every line.

Well I used to specialise in TDs but can't make them work any more at T8. I unlocked the Tortoise, didn't buy it and replaced the AT15 with an AT2 to work out how to make British TDs viable in town without being blown to b**gery in 10 seconds flat. I still play the Stug and SU85B from time to time. I am now trying to learn HT and LT play. For some reason (incompetence no doubt) I cannot seem to get on with MTs.

Should have added I played a few games in SPGs a few years back. Would rather eat my own b**locks, poached in a white wine sauce than buy one now. No way could I get used to the accepted play style of dishing it out in safety then committing hara kiri in inventive ways when retribution loomed.

I play cool looking and fun tanks of any class. Mostly lights, though.

Total according to noobmeter spreads out like this over 51k battles:

14% TD

14.1% LT

43.7% MT

1.2% "click"

26.9% HT

Usually play with around different 100 vehicles from garage each month ... swaping around .. played like 230'ish diffent ones since new year ... leaves about 70 untouched .. would guess those being mostly tier 4 and below from garage ..

Any favourites, not really ... just grinding along the lines still not at tier x and doing some daily doubles with crews in premiums to grind them.

But must admit I prefer tanks fast enough to be able to avoid clickers  ... (Now there is a class that should be limited to 1 each team ... but rather just remove the lot and return to players the exp they've used to research those lines ..)

Hi!

> What class of tanks do you play and why?

Mid-tier mobile vehicles mostly. Versatility, and more fun for me than in high tiers. :justwait:

Stopped playing heavies years ago. Not fun anymore. :arta:

Stopped playing non-turreted TDs a year later. Change in meta made them un-enjoyable. :(

Meh.

With the new MM(it was just fine in 9.18) I rarely play random battles.

I usually play stronghold and team battles with my clan, so I am mostly using IS-3 or other heavies.

For random, I think it would be mediums

At first I preferred heavy tanks, to get stuck in use the armour and so on. After a while I started playing mediums and learned to appreciate the mobility and versatility of that class. I enjoy light tanks for the same reasons.

I have never really liked arty or TD:s with a couple of exceptions.

At the moment I am playing the chinese lines, struggling with gundepression and cursed accuracy.

Early on in the games life I enjoyed the German TD line more than anything, Hetzer, Stug, Jagdpanzer, Jagdpanther but I've given up on them as I feel they are too disadvantaged by the current game dynamics.

Spent a while playing heavy tanks after I decided to try and improve my game and the IS-7 line was the one to go to then.  Probably only play the T-10 from that line now.

I've always wanted to play meds well so I rushed up the T-54 line and was horrible.  I'm going back to that now to try and improve my stats on those tanks.  I almost never drive my Obj 140 as I'm so bad in it (and sadly the T-54 which when I started was the one tank in the game I really wanted).

I've tried lights and I'm so bad in them I've stopped playing them at any tier.  I've played a few arty games for the personal mission rewards but I don't like them and can't bring myself to play them unless I have to.

So, short answer, Some heavy tanks and some mediums very badly.

All of them for variety and fun.  I even play arty sometimes and I am ok with that.:arta:

Mostly MT & TD now. I will play SPGs again from time to time also (good fun/tactics)! :)
