Always considered my tactical sense made up for my ability short fall, however I have noticed since I hit Tier 8 I have to resort more and more to gold rounds, and still getting snot kicked out of me.

I am keeping my eye out for a clan (so please dinnae go on about it on this threat).

What if anything has changed from tier 6 to tier 8 that I should now be paying attention to?

Yea tier 8 is kinda broke the now according to all the different threads on it. Personally i dont fire gold at all. If i cant pen them then tough. Let someone else waste their credits

I don't know if this means anything to you, but it's not a waste if you win the game because you shot a few prem rounds, you'll get more credits than if you lose.

And if you lose, you would have lost some credits but gained more XP.

Tier 8 is kind of effed right now thanks to bad MM but tier 8 is also a point where player skill matters than in mid to low tiers.

Currently tier 8 is getting slapped on the *** , but generally , if you feel like you're not able to actually do well on a tier and you're new to it , preferablly try to adapt more to the tiers before , and even better  try to "enter" the tier with an "adequate" tank *ehem* IS3*wink wink* so that you can slowly learn what to do and what not to do

Tier 8 is currently about as far removed from a sweet spot as you can get. As for shooting gold, it can sometimes make a difference. One way to go might be to load some gold just in case, and if you want to avoid losing credits over it, maybe not start out shooting gold but instead get some damage/spotting done in the early part of the battle so you will actually have a margin in case, well, it ends quickly and not so well for you...

My point was that if you win BECAUSE you fired prem rounds, you will get your credits back regardless...if you don't want to win, I don't think anything can convince you.

We're talking about something affecting all players, not only you. So the topic is about all players, and your replies are for all players. Or maybe you just want to show off how different you are from the other players ?

Now, did you said that everyone should by fort knox packs ? Or are you just a special snowflakes who just want to show off ? Please pick one of these.

My advice is that at 4k battles you are not ready for Tier VIII.  Serious and not being nasty.  Tier VI for you my lad for a few thousand battles.

That's the problem, if you don't care you'll never get good. You'll die during the first 30 seconds and think nothing of it. That's the problem with the majority of players, bad players especially, They don't care if they win or lose or do damage or make credits, and then they get 41% WR and cry why the game is broken.

If you're just looking for winrate :

On most maps there's 2 "battle lines" go on one side, if you win your side, watch your map :

- The other side is going to fail : Go back to base.

- The other side is winning but there's a lot of TDs unspotted, and you have to go accross an open field : Take your time, wait for opportunities, or your scouts to give you more informations.

- The other side is winning and you know you can cross the open field without any risks : Push this side hard.

I think this is the most basic way to improve your winrate when you don't have the experience to read the map properly.

Also, don't play TD or Arty, it's very hard to have a huge impact on the battle result on those types, especially on arties.

Oh and if you care about your stats, don't play tier 8 atm, with the current MM, it's hardcore mode ON.

What if anything has changed from tier 6 to tier 8 that I should now be paying attention to?

I'd say there are a couple things that are different:

* On Tier 8 (+/- 2), you meet more tanks with substantial armor, than on Tier 6. They can be seriously difficult to penetrate/damage.

* On Tier 8, more people have 6th sense (plus additional crew skills) on their regular tanks, than on Tier 6, since they are that much deeper into the grind. Also, since T8 premiums make the most credits, people often put their good crews inside, so all in all you can expect the enemy to have massively more crew skills than on T6.

* On T8, mediums and heavies in general still don't have noticeably more dpm than on T6, while obviously the teams have much more HP to chew through. This is especially important since your subjective position driving a Tier 8 is having this dpm, while you might still meet Tier 9 or 10 vehicles, which have substantially more dpm, in addition to their buffed armor/HP and crew skills. This means that your own carry potential via dpm is heavily compromised in comparison to your carry potential in a Tier 6 vehicle.

In general, acknowledging these circumstances and trying to carry harder than before might help.

But also don't be too hard on yourself if it doesn't work, because (due to reasons I mentioned above) it truly is hard to carry in a Tier 8 vehicle, if you are matched against Tier 9 or 10, and even equal Tier is harder to beat than what you're used to from Tier 6.

=> To be competitive, you need better/more crew skills, more premium ammo and/or weakspot knowledge, more playing/tactical experience/skill, more toughness/agility (avoiding or blocking shots), and more teamwork/patience (cause of lower relative dpm compared to the enemies' HP pool).

Good luck with all that. :)

This is why I stayed strong throughout the Summer Sales and before.

T7 and below for me I think :hiding:

I did buy two T7 Prems during the sale last weekend (M10 and VK 45.03). I find they're both easier to play than most of my T6 Tanks. Even in T9 games in the VK I seem to get by in most of the time. Thing I learnt recently is studying the lineups when the game starts, as in knowing when the enemy is Scorpion saturated and knowing not to go first into an open bit where you can take 400 alpha or seeing there is triple arty so staying mobile etc . I had a few frustrating days but I think to improve you're meant to go away and look at exactly why you've died/lost then correcting those mistakes for next time...
