Why is climbing possible and legal?

I haven't played in a while, last time was before the SWE introduction. Now when I came back, I'm shocked. Tanks on hilltops! STRV campers with great camo, spotting and shooting at you from mountain top! How on earth is this normal? This seriously affected my game experience, and I'm sure it did for many more players. Now I see there are even mods that help find climbing route. Small climbs are OK IMHO, but this is ridiculous being able to climb at the edge of the map on highest points where you can't do anything to them without arty. WG if you want a game like this, please rename it to World of Goats.

Next patch most of the boost locations will be blocked.

because going places where you not supposed to be disrupts normal game play, with the removal of the bounderies some time ago this became (making it possible to nose dive of a cliff) possible.

There are lots of things that are possible but I feel that doesn't mean they should be allowed.  You ok with team killing for example? Sure, there is a 'system' in place for TKing but it is easy to TK while not getting banned etc so is still 'possible'.

 

I personally feel climbing ruins what little map balance is in the game and look forward to 9.20 where a lot of it will be removed.

Please, explain what you mean by "places where you not supposed to be".

What you personally feel is irrelevant, especially when considering that WG itself stated the rule of thumb for it is "if it's possible to go there, it's allowed to be in there".

 

As per the removal of climbing spots, doesn't affect me at all. I just think a game with 1x1 km maps where a lot of it is simply unreachable makes for a very dull game.

I disagree, as it seems WG now feel the same otherwise why would they start removing them?  Also, I think it's safe to assume their original statements on the issue were typical of the way WG manage these kinds of things and not necessarily a concrete stance on the matter.

You think if people can glitch their tanks into buildings then that's 'ok' because it is 'possible'?  Not everything that is 'possible' is good for the game.

I didn't know that patch 9.20 will fix that. Thats good to hear!

 

I think this was more of an abuse of the physics system rather than WG making unreachable parts of the map reachable

It's possible because the mapmakers/WG are lazy.
It's not forbidden because they can't control it. Even if they could, they can't ban people for using minor glitches.

There have been no new maps for a long time so people need to find new places to go on the maps we do have otherwise the game is getting very dull

If the patch notes are to be believed:

 

Removed the boosts (a.k.a. ‘mountaingoating’ spots) on following maps:

Karelia
Steppes
Lakeville
Abbey
Mines
Sacred Valley
Mountain Pass
El Halluf
Arctic Circle

 

Hopefully they will get round to the other maps and their balance breaking climbs.  Like in the West on Serene Coast.

You like games with bugs and glitches, that's fine but not a lot of other people seem to and neither do WG.
