I have both! and both suck! (could be cause both are stock with stock crew)

Well jokes asside, JP2 is more agile and lower armour, ferdi has "good" armour and is slow. Its up to you what is better?

Are you a lazy player who doesnt want to move that much on the maps? -> ferdi!

Or are you an acitve player who is always watching minimap and understand the use of bushes and the value of camo? -> JP2

JP2 as fun competitive tier8. Ferdi as grind for Jageroo.

I got both. Unlocked last gun with one, and the tier 9 with the other. Work out which is which.

With the current crap MM where you are hardly ever top tier? I would say JP2 (well actually I would say I would take it over ferdi anyday but thats beside the point because the only advantage ferdi has is the armor which doesnt really work anymore with pen powercreep and gold ammo for credits). Armor on ferdi is useless against T9+ anyway and cant withstand much even from T8 if they know where to shoot or press 2. JP2 has great mobility, basically medium like with good traverse which is pretty rare for turretless td, same gun and its armor can still work with a bit of use of terrain, the upper part is pretty resilient. Mobility will help you get where you are needed or run away if your flank is screwed in time.

If you go to 'In game vehicles' and German TDs, you will see this subject has been covered in depth.

Used to be of interest.

Many patches ago...

Fun and really nice tank to play.

The JP II hated me even once it was upgraded. I sold it and completed the grind for the JT using the Ferdi.

JP II. 121 battles 45.45% WR

Ferdi 231 battles 52.38% WR.

For me it's obvious, but most players say JP II

Most people I've spoken to say JPII.

Jag II is for players who play a TD like a medium tank, Ferdinand is for those who play a TD like a TD.

I got the JP2 and in terms of mobility it's really excellent and most importantly it traverses really fast which genuinely helps catch fast tanks that try get in behind you. The Ferdinand has bigger gun arch and armour I've often struggled against until I pressed the 2 key.. get the point here?

Here's a bit of advice. I grinded both the JP2 and UDES at the same time, both without the top gun and tracks, engine etc. When I finally upgrade both and got used to them the UDES was massively better to the point I have never played the JP2 again. The UDES top gun was a big improvement along with the speed and siege mode offering constant camo net(insanely good camo values) and constant binocs. While map reliant, once in those maps the UDES is a monster, a pure sniper and DAMN good at it.

By comparison, the JP2 gets worse with the top gun. Don't get me wrong it's a thunderous hit but the aim time and sell velocity cripples it imo. Because of it's narrow gun arch forcing constant hull traverse the aiming bloom is always kept larger than a TD should along with the fact this constant hull movement loses camo net and binocs of which it can ill afford to do given it's a great big lump that's easy to spot anyway. If you play it as a support semi-brawler it's ok but that's the thing, it's only "ok" and there are just so many tanks better at filling that role offering the massively more flex that only a turret can.

I love TDs I really do but with the way so many maps are unkind to TDs now and hyper speed of light tanks I've pretty much stopped all TD gameplay it was just too frustrating. I like to take the Hellcat out for run but that's because it has a turret.

Preferred the JP II myself, but neither of them are keepers....

I'm almost through Ferdy and I guess it's as good as non turreted td's go. T28prot is better though and I suppose I'll prefer T30 and E4 to JT and JPE100, too.

But as this thread shows, the two choices for tier 8 are both quite viable. And the Ferdy armor does work quite well against normal ammo.

JP2 can hulldown at close range. Try it in UDES. JP2 is a good TD even at city maps, despite lack of turret.

I joined that TD line from the Tiger P, so Elefant was the only option.

I played Ferdi, good gun, armor is obsolete camo bad.

JP 2 seems more agile, the armor at tier 8 is irrelevant, is Tiger P after all.

Make decision according to what you grind is, but if it is for a keeper I guess JP2 might be the best pick.

Ferdy has better gun arc which can be useful 30 degrees as opposed to 20 degrees.

Don't have the ferdy any longer so it may have become less competitive.

I still use the JP2 its very mobile good gun and the upper hull is pretty bouncy the lower hull isn't so good

Ferdy has about 200 everywhere except lower plate which is weak just over 120

The JP2 is only around 80 on the lower plate 140-150 on the upper plate and only the very top of the hull around the gun at 240

Why not try both on the test server

JP 2

Ferdi's armour has too many weakspots in low tier games to make its armour be really effective, and is paper in higher tier games, so you're left with a much less mobile Jagdpanther 2.
