Nerf derp guns

When are WG finally nerfing derp guns, to what they are on paper? I'm tired of getting snapshotted by Type's and also on low tiers by 0-skill hetzers able to 1shot own tier tanks on mid to long range.

The amount of times I get hit to what they probably should on paper is ridiculous. not even mention the fact that they hit pretty hard on well armored tanks as well. Derp guns are a clear proof that the game is running down hill for a long time.

Derp guns have been in the game since conception, but I do have some sympathy.

Everything these days is "clear proof" that the game is going downhill.

 

With so much forcing it downhill it does beg the question, why is it one of the most popular MMOs in the world? Despite all it's flaws.

If everything people wanted nerfed was.  We would all have one tank each in our garage and some of us would still want that nerfed.

This is the 3rd exactly the same moan thread about nerfing derp guns in what seems like as many days, the same OP again? Look, derp guns are like shotguns in a way, very powerful up close but very inaccurate. In wot a derp is all or nothing, you can just as easy miss as land a shot which gets more and more likely to miss with every foot increase of distance along with the unknown damage return when you do land a shot.

  Lightly armoured vehicles are vulnerable to them but lightly armoured tanks are either light tanks that have the speed to make getting derped unlikely unless stupid while picking the derp tank apart. The other vulnerable lightly armoured tank is a TD which really should be at a range that makes getting derped unlikely along with 6th sense. So chances are if a TD or LT get derped they are either noobs, poor crew without 6th sense in which case ANY type of tank was gonna kill them anyway or just got hit by that 1 on 50 hail Mary shot.

Other tank classes are vulnerable at times but it's more of a case that the sides, rear or some weak spot got hit in which case you have to ask why you show this to the enemy and an enemy that's THAT close.. which is typically only in a 2vs1 situation in which case again, you're gonna be f***ed up the a** anyway just the derp gun f***ed you up the a** that bit faster.

In any case derps are no problem in this game, the unreliable weapon of choice and if they were that great, every tank on the battlefield would be a derp platform, they are actually very rare in most teams if any at all. Case closed

Derp guns are a gamble many times, its not that every derp gun is like a type 5 heavy premium rounds....

 

derp guns also require the player to have some knoledge to use them properly, even the aiming and and know where to hit...

their horrible accuracy and long reload and aim times also make them more tricky to use...

 

i agree a derp gun can be anoying... specialy if its a Type 5 heavy that smartly only wants to trade shots at longe range, completely not allowing you to efectively 

trade anything, he only have to hit your tank to do 600 dmg, and you will have penetrate him at longe distance frontaly (good luck) 

 

the Hetzer is a tank destroyer... (and if you ask me... the Stug III B is better in every aspect) but its not that unbalanced, its slow... put a hetzer in front of a matilda...

and if the Hetzer doesnt kill the matilda with one premium shell, he will die before reload the gun... 

 

i do not agree with nerfing the derp guns, except with the case of the type 5 heavy...

i would call premium ammo far more annoying than derp guns

 

derp guns wont work against well armored targets

derp guns wont work well against spaced armor 

derp guns have a bad accuracy

derp guns got a long aimtime

derp guns normally dont have "i win" premium shells

while for most cases pressing 2 comes along with ignoring all armor, full damage, full accuracy 

so if it comes down to 0 skill  it would rather be the  "press 2 to win" players

And they typically fire slow ammo.

 

On-topic: Really, the only thing bad I see bad about the Hype 5 is the obvious premium shell doing more damage than the regular. Decrease alpha, increase pen and splash and it's done.

well.. at first, I found no topic about it.

2nd there is the expected useless comment from you, about them being inaccurate. yes on paper.. Then it must be only the people paying a big amount of money to WG that get all those lucky snapshots and hits on mid-long range? you act like I have no experience in the game, while having played 3 times your amount. nice try.

 

@Phobos4321 they work bad against well armoured tanks? Type 5 snapshotting a Maus from the other side of town in Windstorm and doing 500 damage per shot on it's turret is bad? lmao in the mean while Maus has to aim and most likely miss his shots or isn't even able to hit a spot he will pen even with premium rounds. try again :trollface:

the claim derp guns could snapshot is funny in itself

over a distance of 500m and more how many shots would even hit the target if fully aimed ? 2 out of 5 ?  to hit a snapshot 1 out of 1000 ?

I dont get this. How are some of the derp guns in the game defendable? In most cases you at least need to aim. Derp gun? Na just have a face full of that for the same alpha or higher. Throw in some module / crew damage as well for good measure.

 

Poor accuracy doesn't balance a derp gun. I would even question whether long reloads do as well, given the damage they can cause.

Derp guns shouldn't be at tier 8 and higher imo..  Except on perhaps a niche light tank. But on a superheavy that can just sit there? Ugh..  I hope they remove the derp guns on the O-Ho and higher and give them competitive normal guns.

 

It's just too easy. Yes if you aim properly you will do more damage but the point is you don't have to aim properly to still do damage, critical hits and kill enemy crew members. The Godzillas are basically heavily armored frontline SPGs.

Derp guns are useless above tier 8 anyway. Except, you know... Type 5...

The only thing you proved here is that you know very little about high tier derp guns, do you even play a type 5?

I played a type for tonight's Invasion, here are the results, with premium HE:

1° 10 hits = 2662 damage

2° 7 hits = 1354

3° 8 hits = 2446

So, that's 25 hits for 6462, 258 damage per hit, and I scored a 1050 on a batchat.

 

258 damage every 16 seconds, that's an effective 967 DPS.

How about you use 1400 dmg ammo everybody uses instead of 1100 one effectively handicapping yourself and ensuring results of your "test" are irrelevant. Instead of course if point of your "test" is to defend derp guns and prove they are not broken, which they are.

It is indeed, sorry. Got my standard ammo clue from a 1000 dmg hit on Bat Chat. 

Point stands, derp guns are and always been gimmicky noobtubes.
