I have just been banned for an hour for team damage. The damage was done because an idiot in a scout tank repeatedly drove in front of my rapid firing auto cannon at pointblank range while I was firing multiple times. It was a tiny auto cannon so each shot does about 11 damage. The player had also tried to push me in front of the enemy team to die for no reason.

Now what kind of crap system boots a player off the game for doing something that was not their fault? The idiot that was trying to kill his team mates gets nothing done to him. I did not even go blue and I have not been blue for months. Just banned for nothing. I assume the ban system works on hits done which is stupid. If you gun unloads its entire mag in about 2 seconds and an idiot drives in front of you as you are firing there is nothing you can do but smash the side of their turret a load of times. The game should dish out bans based on number of hits done to friendly player and you should not get banned without a least getting a blue warning first. :'(

That's not really the point is it. What would happen if you were unlucky enough to have this happen a few times in a short space of time? Could you loose your entire account for doing basically no damage but a large number of hits because people are not paying attention or being idiots on purpose?

Oh I say, what most awfully bad luck, I bet most people don't even know about this.

Still, c'est la guerre.

happened to me once, I was in my Pz II J (So i probably deserved it) Started firing and as its an auto cannon it fires afew shells for each click which cant be helped, like most low tier auto cannons do. Friendly BT-7 drove in front of me and i put loads of shots into his [edited]by accident, He didnt do it on purpose, guy was a new player like most are at that tier. But because the way the automated system works i still got punished, which as i said before i probably deserved to get a 1 hour ban after playing my II J anyway. If anything im grateful, stopped me playing more of it and losing even more credits :P

Not really....you'd have to be doing a lot of damage regularly to lose your account. Just makes you more aware of 'allies' close to you as you shoot.

well even if it might be annoying but i guess if your account would be in danger you might be able to be extra careful  to be able to deal with even stupid or trolling teammembers

Then how would the game differentiate vs unlucky and intentional? As if you gave it more leeway for a few shots in a short time. Most low tier clip guns can take away more HP before they actually turn blue vs now when they do it intentionally. As it's currently based on how many hits you do, or how often. Not how much damage you do. Sure I've been blue 2 times in my WOT career. Both times in low tier clip guns as a friendly drove past it. Yes it's annoying. But it's not that common that it's an issue as such. As even on the Pz 1c you have to keep aware of what the guy next to you do. And react fast and aim up when they do move. As most low tier players are new, and their awareness skills are rather low.

Considering the ban lengths increase each time unless you behave for a while I can't see how you can do it several times in a short space of time.

When you come back from your month ban you would probably just stop playing autocannons to avoid getting to the permanent ban stage.

That is how it works, on low tiers, I think it works very well. Unless the shots end up as TK, you can't mount your TK damages till you are ban, but shooting friendly constantly can get you ban, how ever low the damage you do.  Shots from auto-cannon can be control.  The system can't think, so to call it stupid, it's a little unfit.:)

So you are saying the system forced you to press the trigger. If you press fire you are responsible.  Agreed timings and things can take away a lot of the control,  However, the system has no way of knowing. Burst fire guns are most likely to get you banned so stay away from them untill you are not blue.

I've played a lot of games in the Pz IC and have never had a ban from it even though I can't say I'm that careful when I fire. Just take your finger of the mouse button seems to work.

If you press fire you are responsible.

Sorry, but if a team mate drives right in front of your gun when you are in sniper mode and concentrating on your target, they are responsible. It isn't hard to wait for your team mate to fire before diving in to take your own shot, yet this basic skill eludes many players. I think the OP has been hard done by but cannot think of a simple solution that would not be abused by trolls.

Is this not just a case of a skill you will need to play higher tier games?

You will get to a point where knowing your surroundings, who is where (friend and foe), how many HP they have left and who has fired (and therefore on reload) and who has a round loaded ready to go are important considerations before taking an action.

You will also have to learn to deal with people who play the game with the sole purpose of trolling their teammates to get them banned.  They are far less numerous as you go up the tiers but they still exist.

I get that a ban is not a great way to teach this.  Also that the automated system is not clever enough to punish the trolls, who use the banning mechanics and lack of understanding of newer players, to cause the problem but that's the system we have to live with.

Annoying as it may be if the OP uses this as a learning experience it will help them become a better player.

No, no, no.

To be banned you need a combo of team DMG and NO DMG to enemies.

This last marathon i was trolled by RNG, any team hit getting "bonus DMG" while DMG to enemy was 1/3 at most (i'm talking of 150mm DERP).

In one battle i did ~1500 team DMG (2 shots) because shells going "magic" and yet, no blue.

Why? because i did carry a lot (over 1000DMG/battle).

So, IMHO, 2-3% team DMG/total DMG is counted as accidental. If you do 50%...

Or so i think. :/

After almost 30k battles, I have never received any sort of account ban due to team damage. Shouldn't be too hard.
