I'm currently stock-grinding two tanks - two, that may be the worst stock grind in this game...

Like, I've grinded the T29 with the 76mm, something, that should be illegal, because you feel like an oversized Sherman with a tiny peanus.

I've grinded the B1 stock. YES, WITH THE TIER 2 47mm.

But right now, i'm grinding a tier 8 tanks with 175mm penetration and 12 second reload, the 110, horrible armor, horrible IS turret and to top it off I have a [edited]G1R to grind, just because it looked nice and I wanted to try it out with the derp - turns out I'd need all the free XP for 110's tracks and now I have to grind in Tier 7 matches with a 47mm gun and a completely stock tank.

The grinds I remember weren't this bad... :/

Help.

The gun on the G1R has 70mm penetration.

I can't pen some tier 4 tanks.

When you go up the tiers, grinding XP to spend on tanks and modules, you also earn 'Free XP'.  Noobs and new players seem to have a habit of spending this Free XP on unlocking tanks, meaning they have a stock tank to start the grind with.

What I would recommend is: choose 1 line to grind (just one at a time).  In the earlier tiers, say up to T6, grind a tank, get XP for the modules and the next tank but don't spend any Free XP, save it.  When you have have unlocked all modules on your current tank (or at least the necessary ones to unlock the next tank) then farm the XP to unlock the next tank but DO NOT spend any Free XP unlocking the next tank.  When you have bought your T6/T7 tank use the Free XP earned to unlock important modules (gun is usually the most important).  Try to avoid stock grinding at T7 onwards as you are more likely to slow down your overall grind by being ineffective and more likely to cause your team grief by not being useful.

That's what I'm doing, but the 110 you need about 80 000 Free XP.

I did the stock grind for the WZ-111 1-4 and the Conqueror at the same time. Played around 100 games each until they where fully uppgraded. I believe I had around 45% in the vehicles at that time and I still haven't been able to repair that winrate

You can skip researching the tracks on the 110 if you mount a Torsion bar equipment (at least the in game tool told me that you can mount everything with that upgrade), you can save nearly 16k exp right there that you can use to unlock the turret. The tank used to be good back in the time when high pen TDs were not that numerous as the upper plate it very bouncy (it was always harder to crack frontally than say an IS-3 before it got buffed).

Claim to fame is grinding the kv4 throught to the sti-1 without the decent gun.

It was fine once I got used to it!

Now with the leopard PTa (no WG I wont waste my free XP).

I groan when I hear people unlocked this or that tank with free XP and dont have spare for the modules!

The manual should cleary advise to save up free xp for an engine, track or gun BEFORE you unlock and buy a new tank.

What modules is that for?  I recently unlocked the VK100p and used my Free XP to unlock the tracks and engine.  I can grind the 55k XP with the stock gun as it seems quite usable (with a reasonable amount of premium ammo).

I know it's a bit of an afterthought, but unless I'm mistaken you could have unlocked the 90mm on the m6. It's always good to have a look at the tech tree before skipping modules.

110 has really good frontal armor if you bait shots into it. The stock grind is truly bad but fully upgraded it's pretty comfortable to play.

Conqueror is the same deal, so is ST-I. And I actually loved the E2 with the stock turret and derp 105, it's funny how you can set vehicles on fire if you shoot their sides without aiming while they are sidescraping hahaha

Took me a few weeks to get 15 000, IDK how long it would take to get full 80K just to skip the 110's grind.

Then don't skip it. Simply load HE and no-aim slap fools in the face, the armor is more than good enough to deal with quick snapshots. That's how I did it and it wasn't nearly as much pain as you presented it to be, especially since the tank is a brawler by definition and can easily rack up tons of assist damage by detracking other heavies.

Also, you have 250 HEAT shells, which is a luxury the soviet equivalents simply do not have when stock.

You get better gun depression with the top gun, too.

Try grinding the Churchill GC, it will make you more relaxed about any other you ever have..

I feel the OP pain, I'm grinding the 110 myself, and its a real pain. It gets better with improved turret and last gun, but what a pain to grind.

This is something WG should think when balancing tanks, how do you play them stock. Some tanks are "impossible" like the 110, no armor and a bad gun (bloom and accuracy and penetration)...

T54 is another bad tank to grind with the stock with the tier 7 gun and the amount of experience we need to grind a decent gun.

Tier 8 and 9 are now very unpleasant to play with stock tanks, with the super heavies and almost always being bottom tier, its really bad for some tanks.
