I know the title of this thread may provoke very easy remarks about nowadays bad drivers (in certain countries) and subsequent playstyles but...

...as a car driver you should have or develop several competences like for example:

* anticipating on things which (will) happen about 100 or even 200 metres away

* awareness of what is going on in the direct environment of the car

* recognizing dangerous situations (before these may happen)

* discriminating of relevant and non-relevant road signs

* judging semi-complex situations and prioritizing own (re)actions

This leads me to the thought that driver license owners are more aware of what is going on and perhaps may be better players?

I often wondered whether to start thinking like a continental driver and pass to the right of the approaching ally. When I try that, however I sometimes think that I must be going head to head with another Brit.

It's an interesting concept.  I must say though as a brand new pixel E 50 driver I'm less worried about scratching that than I am about my real life car.

Some anecdotal evidence :  I have no drivers license and I am pretty good I would say.

I doubt it. As youtube have shown, having a license, even for years don't instantly grant you awareness powers. Thus I suspect it works the same way for most here, as in time played vs battle count etc. I suspect most 16 year old's that play CS all day long besides this have more then most drivers would have in this game.

Then again that's like saying that people with a gun license or military weapon training would have better awareness to.. Or gun awareness. As everyone drives in front and across the sight of a shooting tank, not behind it. You would not walk in front of people on a shooting range either. But still I suspect people would still do it in the game, even with a gun license.

Nah, you're just lucky that the 'rigged MM' has selected you for favourable match making ;)

My son plays around 58% winrate and bangs his tank against allies so often it makes me cringe.

Of course, him being 13 old might explain that.

So he drives like the people in a certain continental capital...

Would drivers who play WoT be better drivers?

If car drivers are better players, then bikers must be better players still

I have many times said that I hope most WoT players do not have their driver's licenses, based on how recklessly they drive their tanks. The problem with your theory is that there are a lot of reckless drivers driving cars in RL, with (and sometimes without) driver's licenses.

90% of drivers are freaking braindead mongols that don't even know how to turn their lights on. Nice joke.

driving and playing - completly differnt competences

also if drivers were really able to do all on your list there wouldnt be any traffic accidents right ?

also preaiming and angling isnt really stuff i ever needed when driving a car

i mean would you claim you need a drivers licence to play gta ? there must be a reason why games got about 8m wide lanes ...

There are certain activities that could improve your game play, but I do not think driving is one of them.

Recently, international rugby teams have been bringing in coaches to improve peripheral vision, as they have discovered that this is tending to get worse, as young people increasingly focus on screens etc rather than playing in the woods etc.

Peripheral vision is certainly useful in a game such as this, particularly in being able to keep a overview of the minimap... I regularly see things which suggest many drivers have no peripheral vision at all..

Kind of a generous assumption that people even have the minimap turned on, don't you think? I mean, it blocks the view of the cool explosions and scenery and stuff.

I drive about 80 kilometers to work and 80 to get home again and if the people I see on the roads each day would drive their tank in a similar fashion we'd have a lower average than we already have.

Oh, crap. I better get myself a driving license because I wanna be better at a game where we play tanks.

Seriously, how did you even create the topic with a straight face? Do you REALLY believe these two things have something in common?
