Currently grinding the M103 and I´m just a couple of Ks from the E5. Before the MM change this was a no brainer but currently Tier 9 is in a very nice MM sweetspot.

And most importantly I actually like the 103. A lot. Before I started the grind I was reading people complaining it was the worst T9 HT in the game and how bad it was. Personally I found it decent to play with the second gun and a joy with the 3rd one. Stock grind was very bad though and my WR is still slowly recovering from that. Playing tier 9 with a tier 7 gun...ouch. The turret roof isn´t that easy to hit if you wiggle it around and people miss more shots for it than they hit. The last gun is a big improvement and I find the playstyle pretty similar to the Conq which I love.

I havn´t played the E5 and now I´m uncertain about buying it. Keeping both is not an option as I only have one US HT crew and I can´t be bothered to grind a new crew. Tier 10 is on the edge of my comfort zone and I´m not doing too well there while Tier 9 seems to suit me pretty well. Tier X nowadays is pretty much full TX only and I´m a bit worried about the possible high skill ceiling on the E5 and how the tank fares in full TX battles. Since the (well needed IMO) E5 nerf they have become pretty much extinct in the game. I very, very seldom see them any more on the servers.

I´m currently leaning towards just keeping the 103 as I really enjoy it but I´m afraid I might miss out on the E5 being a really fun and enjoyable tank. Any input and/or thought are appreciated!

If you like M103, you're gonna like E5, it's much better. It's just that Tier 10 tanks/games are more demanding.

Personally, I don't think it's a keeper.

Plus 110 E 5 armor is not made of ammorack as M 103 is. :girl:

I like my M103.

Sure, it's not the strongest tier IX heavy tank, but still I really like it.

If you also like it and having fun in it, when you should keep it as well.

The problem is that hull down is not realiable, big soft cupola and turret cheeks weakspots when you angle a little.

IF you want armor 75/st1 are superior, if you want gun-mobility T10/wz and if you want hull down conqueror

It's a good all rounder, in many respects an E5 one tier lower with only a bigger side profile and slightly worse cupola in trade.

Give the E5 a go on the test server while it's still up and before buying. It isn't similar to the games you get on the main client, players often remove their brains before pressing 'Battle', but if you get a good game the feel for how the tank performs is translatable. I've had a few games in it because I'm in a similar position and it's darn good on the 30vs30 map, less so on the smaller maps or street corners because yes, the cupola thing. It seems to me the mantra of 'there's a problem if hull down' should be re-written to 'the E5 needs to be played as a full support heavy used at range from the enemy'.
