Hi

I'm just thinking out loud here, but wouldn't it be a nice idea if people weren't able to turn off their minimap before a certain criteria is met on their service record with regards to winrate/efficiency,
think of it as training-wheels of sorts, maybe even make the minimum size bigger the lower your "score" on that service record is.

My reasoning is, it seems a lot of players remove this and chat (chat because they don't understand, it's toxic or whatever) and minimap because "who needs a map" or  "it's just blocking my view of the tank I want to shoot", so they learn nothing map tactics, team gameplay, match dynamics. I think enforcing the map and ramming it down peoples throat would actually make this game way better, and way more engaging. and in the long run, probably a whole lot better with regards to m.m, cause 3-5-7 only goes so far.

Agree, disagree? Have a better idea

How about remove the option to disable it in the first place?

Also i think it won't help much. Many player's probably don't even enlarge their minimap or have the situational awareness to use it.

Hmmmm
How about not being able to remove the map, and the worse your stats become, the bigger the map becomes.:child:

Until it fills the whole screen...

TBH when I first started playing I never used the minimap now use it all the time.

As an aside has anyone had any hits using minimap to aim at tanks outside your view range, 445m?

I have tried it several times not a great success.

Have done it few times. Can be used on "expected" positions like the two opposing sniping spots on Lakevile. Generally if you know the position and usual cover spots on the map - then you can sorta fire outside of draw range. If the target is soft - then the chance for a pen is rather good.

Yes, I have done it on several occations. Use the sight-line to tell you the range (dot every 100 meters), then your actual sight to tell you the range you are aiming at. Ofcourse if there is a known bush or stuff there, you pretty much know where to shoot anyways :)

Yup, ell halluf, across, a t28 prot getting away and me popping 4 with the tvp 50/51 is the one I most dearly remember.

well let's say the last part. loads of people ignore is as much as the signs you give them to defend base etc. they are just too dumb or don't care at all about the game experience of others/winning.

Why? Issue is not that people turn it off, is that people don't look at it if it's on. No point preventing it from going away when they don't use it in the first place. Most look at it once every 60 seconds it seems.

This. It's not about the availability, it's about the usage. At the start of the match, people simply choose a random direction/path and go there without looking back. Even with morons like me pinging like a madman...

Best thing is you have 30s to decide where to go when the game starts ( and it's not like we have that many maps that make it difficult to remember what to do in a certain vehicle )  yet you see players in fast tanks wait an eternity and react how people are spreading sometimes leading to a lemmingtrain because reasons instead of using their speed to get to key positions. Imagine a game of CoD or CS with this amount of indecisiveness....they would still be at their spawn when the enemy team gets there.

Make it too big ignore, and remove any chance of removing it or reducing the size beyond a set minimum size. Make map-pings audible, and put a anti-spam measure in place to prevent people from spamming the map?

Actually, I do that too, sometimes. With that many utterly clueless... uh... "people"... you often end up alone at your traditional route...

Yes. I scored a few hits using minimap but pens are fairly rare unfortunately. My best result was when I scored 3 pens in 4 shots with Tiger II. I don't know what techniques others use, but I first set direction using map, then adjust elevation (and direction to much smaller degree) by looking for probable or common positions. Then I check direction again on minimap. Repeat until ready and fire.

The real solution is making the game less fun for those who, uhm, play4fun. Seriously, though, if someone thinks it's fun to camp base in an IS-7, there's nothing that would please him more than being slapped together with every other basecamper and thrown into fifteen minutes of hard Malinovka camp. That mode will also be enabled when you have to do LT-15.

Where-and-when, the minimap is mostly when more than where. Blindshooting tends to be a good idea anyway, as the enemy can still hear the shots, and might be forced to relocate. Goes especially well with the obvious spotting bushes like on Prokhorovka (where you can peek along the road to get an idea if the scout sits in E1).

On or off most players clearly don't look at it.

What WG should be doing is highlighting the content creators to new players, make use of them, loads of the youtubers have guides how to improve at the game, there are loads of guides on this very forums, just link their videos/channels/forum posts from in game based on their language selection. Have them as pop ups in various places etc.

A lot of times, especially against TDs in usual positions :)

What, who plays withouth the minimap?

I even enlarge it to optimise its use!

Nothing is better than being just outside of the viewing range of a tank and hitting it due to your sattelite created GPS minimap :P
