Well? I play mostly on console, arty still can use gold ammo and shoot for 2k damage at tier VIII (German...) ... Rework on Pc is a welcome change; soon limit of 2 arties per game too. What are you complaining about? Removing them at all? No they are here to support; stop / force a push. and prompt to use wisely cover. Deal. With. It.

Yes when I am playing TDs.

No when I am playing Arty.

Maybe when I am playing HT.

Years ago I used to be indecisive, now I just can't make my mind up:)

Artillery is not the sole problem in the game. It can be annoying as all hell when you're the sole target of three clickers - but with the rebalance there are few enough arty players to give it a pass.

In the end I prefer recieving a couple of arty hits rather than discovering four enemy TDs going for full base defense on the Fjords peninsula.

just make a checkbox for it already. Or, ya know, make it somewhat good. Carriers in worldofwarships is a good example of long range done right, since you can actually defend yourself by both having anti air and dodging. arty is just pure rng, and u cant stay in arty cover at all times, on some maps its impossible, and in most situations you just miss out on possible damage. Get rid of it already!

What could POSSIBLY go wrong with 3 seasoned tank destroyers (like strv 103B or some other super power) on, for example, Prokhorovka and no arty...

Well, since they would never get spotted anyway not sure how you think arty could help.  Also, you made a (failed) assumption that arty is a counter for camping, when really, arty shoots what it can see, and what it sees most is tanks on the front line i.e. heavies and meds.  So, rest assured, having no arty won't affect TDs either way :)

Also, I would be happy for a 'no arty' checkbox/mode.

What, and have nothing to assassinate in my LTs? Sounds dull.

Edit:

@Kozzy: In such a situation I'd rather than arty which can hit my spots indirectly than the usual collection of redline hugging TD players miles behind me with no LoS. Cos I know for certain that the enemy redline huggers have LoS to me.

That really depends WHERE those td sits. If far away behind 3 bushes than you are right.

But if there is crazier td that sometimes gets spotted but not in a way that anyone, except blasted arty, can shoot, than it changes things.

Some td camp far, some td are more aggressive. On Prokorofka mountain (first 2 or 3 lines) if td sits too close to mid, it can be spotted. Depending on what side team spawns, he can safely get spotted.

I don't quite understand this, buddy, can you rephrase it?  My point was arty is not a counter to redline sniping TDs (because they are hidden i.e. on the redline) so arty instead, punishes progressive play (where players actually push and risk being spotted).

I agree with you.

But since i'm aggressive (too aggressive, i know...), arty DOES counter me if i get spotted... :sceptic:

Actually lots of people counter me if i manage to get spotted in wrong place.

And its not like i can choose what map i wana play next...

This from a guy with 9.3% of his battles played in arty.  Get back to us when your percentage is the same as mine: 0.55%.  And I am not even an arty hater.

Yeah maybe I'll value your opinion when you play a few more games, until then, rest assured, that you are wrong.  TDs can be flanked and you can use dips and ridges (like in Prok/FS, Malinovka etc) also; they are limited to render range and let's not forget that arty benefits from some wacky, sci-fi, eye in the sky, drone cams.

Can you name a map/position combo where a TD is particularly hard for you to counter?

Prok road. TDs camp at each end. LT sits in middle, spotting enemy TDs. Friendly TDs are too far back to hit anything spotted by LT. Arty can still fire and hit enemy TDs.

Edit: Whether or not Rittmeister is serious I agree with his point. IMO TDs (or rather the mindset which they represent and encourage) are far more harmful to gameplay than arty.
