Someone once told me that you need Premium for certain illegal mods, why would they do this is this some secret wargaming bartering with the illegal mod creators or a second line of business for wargaming?

Yes, if WG delete some thread full of idiocy that clearly proves it was true. If they don't delete it then that clearly proves it was true. Idiot logic.

So a link to a 2.5 years old post on the US forum, way before the fair play policy was introduced proves exactly what? That EU before the fair play policy used a "don't use mods if you think they give you and advantage" policy? Yeah well yes...

Someone once told me once I would get 5 000 gold if I did press alt+F4. Don't make it more true just because someone said it.

Then again there were a few mod packs back in the day that indeed needed premium time for it to work. But you also needed to pay $20-25 a month to use the mod pack on top of that. I don't recall the reason. But they each had some retarded reason for why you needed premium. 2 of them died after WG cut of hidden info that you client got from the server, rendering half the mods people wanted useless. And the last surviving one had to cut it's price down. So why would WG screw their "evil" plan over by killing of their profit?

Last I heard the last one that is still going don't need premium time for anymore. And their mod pack now mostly contain "common hacks" that you can find for free in any of the illegal mod packs as is. I mean after the changes they even tossed white tank skin and black sky to make their mod list more "appealing" I suspect.

Why do I know this? Well hacks and illegal mod packs is a common topic in just about all the WOT discord groups I'm in. And I've not heard about one need premium time to work for ages.

Some illegal mods are using functionality of premium account to get from game client information that normally are not available. This doesn't mean that such mods are made with approval from WG.

Off the top of my head, some different options.

- Running bot accounts is only feasible if you're also running a premium account

- Correctly or incorrectly, the mod makers take the view that you won't be banned as a paying user

- WG are risking their whole reputation to make a few extra quid

Take your pick.

Actually in many F2P games that have cheaters....the hack sellers always recommend having premium accounts to maximise returns and to put the company on 'slow reaction'.......it's not unique to WoT.
