I have sketched a tank destroyer and I wonder what you think about it.

The key features of the tank is 15-20 degress of gun depression. I'm not sure how much it could have. The other feature is good frontal armor(200-220 mm or so) and good mobility. I was inspired by IKV 72, IKV 103 and WZ-113G FT. I want it to be a fast and mobile support tank that strikes hard.

Armor: Front 200-220mm/Side 30mm/Rear 30mm.

Gun: 120 caliber Autoloader with 3 shells in magazine. 15 sec reload time. 1.8-2,2 sec aim time.

Mobility: 70 km/h traversespeed 50

It's one thing i wonder, is the suspension good or should i change it? I want it to be good in terrain.

Here is a picture

If you want you can change something so it's more realistic. You can also make a name for it if you want. :D

How do you want to achieve 15+ gun depression AND an autoloader with that little room above the breech? Drawing the internals of your tank destroyer might be a little more interesting than just the outside :)

You will also get a problem with weight distribution if you want a long, large caliber gun and heavy frontal armor in this configuration. Last, two bogies per track means you'll be stuck if one of the bogies gets shot of. Better use torsion bar suspension with 5 road wheels or something like that.

^ Boom-tish!

So far as tanks in the game are concerned, generally WG provides vehicles that either existed or that were a design concept (let's overlook the anime tanks in the East, shall we?).  If you're hoping your design might catch their eye, well, I think it's unlikely.

Now i have changed the tank a bit :) Here is some pictures:

1.jpg2.jpg

Now the tank have 5 wheels and one drive wheel in the front. I changed the gun to a 10,5 mm and no autoloader instead and and less armor in the front so the tank doesn't get front heavy. Mabye the angle of the front amor still can take shots if it's 50-100 mm? How fast do you think it could be and how much gun depression?

Well the cross section 'internal view' shows the armour is approximately 5 cm thick according to the line width. And the crew will have nowhere to put their feet because the torsion bars for the suspension appear to take up 25% of the lower hull.

Going by the internal view as depicted, it'll never reach the -15 degrees of gun depression due to the barrel hitting the internal armour plating above it long before it.

I dare say it'll barely reach -5 degrees as is.

I guess the conclusion is: Designing tanks ain't easy. That's why it took 100 years of development to get where we are now :)

Here is one last sketch:

Namnlös.jpg2.jpg3.jpg4.jpgThe tank mabye could get 15 degress of gun depression if it could a open the roof like the German light tank Rheinmetall Panzerwagen.

Maybe I'll have a go at making designing one of the missing Japanese mediums when I get home, just for keks and giggles.

Already drew a Chi-He earlier this week.

And in all fairness, I could use the practise.

PS. Nice shot trap in that last sketch.  :girl:

Lacks a turret.

Here's a tank designed by me. Took 5 minutes. Ladies and gentlemen, let me proudly present you, the LaatiPanzer M1A4:
