About two years ago, I tried out WoT for a while, but eventually I got tired of it because I felt like I was too far behind. I had a similar experience with WoW.

I was thinking about ways to get new and returning players back into an MMO without paying for a new patch, and one really simple way would be to reset the world. Many game types already feature world resets on a smaller scale, such as MOBAs and some sandbox games like Minecraft.

This leads to a lot of questions though:

  • How long would the world last?
  • How would the world end? Silent wipe? Apocalypse PvE? Giant PvP war?
  • Would anything stay persistent, like items being passed down?

So, would you play an MMO like this? What would need to be changed from the traditional MMO template?

Too far behind?

It seems to me you haven't understood how this game works. It's no race to unlock all the things.

You can get any tier X with 3 skill crew in 2 weeks here.

This is not a conventional MMO. It is closer to an MMFPS. as said, there is no race. You can join any time and be competitive, especially if you are willing to go out of your way to learn good habits rather than bad play.

Keep thinking until you get good at it.

This is not an MMO with an end game area. It's not like WOW where you will only get 1 XP pr kill if you go back to the starting area to kill boars. So there is nothing called "to bad behind" unless you are lagging behind your friends. Most here play the tiers they like. Some even never went past tier 5 after 20K games. Some never go below tier 6. It's just a matter of taste, nothing else.

Quite likely the world coming to an end will happen before that.
