Here is the link to the news on Ritas blogg:

https://ritastatusreport.live/2017/08/28/thaine-lyman-changes-jobs/

Its about bloody time if you ask me. I know I was complaining about this game getting more and more like Call of Duty the last couple of years. Now I guess we know why. It appears that was his old job...

Perhaps we can now return more to the roots of WoT?

Block Quote

Thaine Lyman, “Product Director of the World of Tanks PC”, publicly announced that he was giving way as a product director for World Of Tanks on the PC.  He did it officially, because already for a month there were such rumors. A new person “as yet unnamed” has already been appointed.

Block Quote

Thain got his post in Wargaming in the summer (June) of last year. He became famous for producing such games as: Call of Duty (2003), Call of Duty 2 (2005).

Good riddance.

The last year changes in WoT were all a complete disaster, and as OP did say - this game starts to feel like CoD.....

Loser left and the main problem since WG hires losers who will succeed him...

It's gonna take a while to fix the damage he did. You know. Since his balance aspect was that a TVP can take on a Defender with ease.

I wouldn't blame him completely. The game has been going into "Call of Duty mode" for many years...also before he was leading...

I highly doubt that we will get a real change in direction, but every little improvement is appreciated.
The sad part: That guy earned thousands and thousands of cash for ruining this game.

Well I think that Lyman guy did a marvellous job. I hope he goes to World of Warships now and weaves his magic there.

The last thing you want to do is hire AAA personnel (a part from actual artists) on games like this because AAA studios are terrible at running games properly (for the consumer).

Glad to see him go, now let's get back to a balanced game soon hopefully.

Um i dont think thaine waa bad... Remember we now have 2 new gamemodes rb and gb and hd maps being pushed. Imo compared to when he first came there has been a significant improvement in update quality. I would rather have the defender slighty op tank than have less tanks and the slow and meh updates of the past

It's hard to really conclude if he's the most responsible for the sorry state of balance the game is currently in, since we don't know the inner workings at the company. But he did, willingly or not, become the de facto mascot for all the recent fiascos with that vid where he was playing dumb as to Defender problems etc.

So yeah, good riddance, he won't be missed and the damage he's (most probably) done will be hard to correct.

Tbh.. small changes that are good, don't make up for the balance changes that were terrible. As pointed out above. triple A devs have a different chain of thought about things. And most of his "ideas" don't work to well in this game's setting. Then again, we don't know if that was his idea at all. As the big game mode was a small idea since before he got into it.

Umm, guys...

This dude is not the guy who is the head of balance at the moment. That guy is Murazor, or known as Daniel something (some Ukrainan slavic name that i cant remember)

Do not get your hopes up lol

Maybe he was not the boss of balance but he was the boss over them all....so I guess that makes him responsible....

In any case...I think balancing was only a small part of the problem....

He's probably not the only one responsible for the recent balancing jokes, but after the absolute load of horse manure that came out of his talkhole after the whole fochgate thing I can't say I'm sad to see him go.
