i cant make this tank work even if i offered it free combat rations every game, its camo almost feels like playing with the empire statebuilding with another sat on top, the gun is extreamly sub par with TDs of it tier, and it moves like its travaling though swamps. any tips for playing this skyscraper waterpistol?

This 85mm is one of the most versatile ones in the whole game, if u consider all shell types and make use of it. U won't find much guns, that are more independent from mm.

The platform is not the best, sure. Shell velocity could be a bit better.

People using FreeXP to start at T6 or T7, i can't understand why.

Because they can not cope with unpredictable players. And thats what you meet at T1/T4. They encounter players who do not do what they expect.

Lower tiers sure is unpredictable; but I often find it hard to have a fair impact on lower-tier games. While I can blame lower tiers for being unpredictable (they differ from high-tier battles at least), it's probably down to my lack of ability to adapt. It's probably somewhat intentional anyway - and given the noob protection scheme, you don't really see the actual newbies. If I play T2/3, it's just to mess around. Nothing beats a Panzer 1C platoon where the objective isn't necessarily to roflstomp the enemy team (save the TD campers, culling them is pure pleasure).

(I actually found I had some problems adapting to T10 gameplay too. Not sure why, but I'm self-aware enough to consider that the problem is between the chair and the keyboard. :) )

It's sneaky, it's mobile, it's gun is great to bully in a support role. The only downside is the large profile vs say the Stug. I found it to be hysterical at times in a pure support role. Tho I have a fairly good crew on it now with off road driving etc. So I don't feel it was that bad on soft terrain as such. But I suspect it will be highly crew dependable in that area if you lack it.

I'm absolutely terrible at playing TDs because I can't play passively. No matter what tank I'm in I want to be in the middle of the battle or I'll be bored.
I could never sit back as a support tank and wait for something to drive into me so that I could shoot.

Combined with terrible view range, no turret, no armor and 75% crews my results in the new TDs are quite predictable too.

The T5 felt like it had a lot of potential, just not how I played it. I never even aced it. To be honest I think I haven't played any tank so badly in years.

This thing  was the first of the Chinese TDs that I didn't like all that much.

Its  massive, has terrible camo, and the gun can be a [edited]at times to hit stuff.

I played it very safely, usually starting the matches in your usual TD camping spots with camo net and binos up, and then when it was mid game I'd move up to the 2nd line and double bush snipe people.

The tier 5 feels a lot worse than the tier 4 but a lot of it is the MM imo. The tier 4 is top tier a fair bit and can totally bully tanks with the gun/dpm. The tier 5 see a lot of tier 7s. The gun is still decent and if you can sit back and snipe unspotted (not easy lol) then you can lay down some serious dpm. But, its so damn tall and easy for all the derps to hit you. TDs this big usually have some armor to compensate. I was just getting into the feel of it as it was time to move on to the tier 6.

It has a machinegun to shoot down arty shells, what's not to like.

The only thing the T5 has going for it is the gun, every other thing about the tank os just horrid

Well the tier 6 TD started out great in the first match with the stock 85mm gun on it....

Spoiler

Then I quickly found out it was a jinx and it went from "yay" to "crap" rather fast.

Thankfully it's the only really questionable of the line, it'd seem.

it must be a mistake, this tier 5 is almost even High as E100, O-Ho and Maus. there are just a few bushes on all the maps to hide in. In some maps u just cant hide. too big.

Most of the time u fight against tier 7. and no hiding places. No armour to meet the enemy.

just a big joke or made by programmers who needs new glasses.
