The Gun Carrier Mark 1. The first ever SPG in existence made its debut on the test fields of England back in 1916 and arrived in France and took part in the Third Battle of Ypres in 1917. By 1918, around 50 vehicles had been built by which time a Mark 2 was being developed.

My question is: Why is this vehicle not in the game? If I'm honest I'm not a great lover of SPGs in the game but this thing looks incredibly interesting. For starters, it was absolutely huge. It weighed about 34 tons and had a 60 pounder gun.

The Mark 2 was very similar but had a rear mounted gun. Never mass produced so no pictures.

Some examples below...

i guess it couldn't go faster than human walking speed, plus that 127 mm gun...  Hard to balance.

There was also a version with a 6 inch gun (152mm).

Arty tends not to move much though so that wouldn't matter a great deal. Mind you, there are plenty of other vehicles that go faster than their historical counterparts so WG could just increase its speed a bit. As for balance, I think its fine for T5-T6 but as a special vehicle maybe. This year would be its 100th Anniversary after all.

It had two guns, though others were sometimes used.

It had a 5 inch 127mm Heavy Field Gun that could fire a 60lb shell at a range of over 9km. Remained in service until 1940-41.

It also had a 6 inch 152mm Howitzer. According to available information, it fired a 122lb shell (heavy shell) and a 100lb shell (light shell). Remained in service until after 1940.

It's a beast!

I have no idea what go's on in the developers heads, some of the things they do baffle me!

So no idea why not. (May actually be to early)

But thanks for posting the pics :)
