IIRC Enemy can set you on fire by fire chance without damaging the engine. Fuel tanks are ones that need to be damaged(HP=0).

You tank was sabotaged by a crew member. You have a traitor in your midst.

You get damaged to engine, but the damage taken was less than half of engin's HP, so you don't lose power and the icon don't change color. But still there is a fire chance.

This. Every time a tank module is hit, it will take some damage. All modules have HP. The game gives you a simplified display of this by saying that a red module means the HP is 0 and the module is broken. A yellow module means that it has less than 50% HP, so is damaged and working at reduced capacity. You got hit by a HE shell, this would have done some module damage to various modules. It your engine was damaged by it, there is a chance that the engine would be set on fire, even if it has not taken enough damage to turn yellow or red. So, your engine takes a little damage from the HE shell, you get set on fire but because the damage was less than half the HP of your engine, the game does not show you any module damage on the panel.

But you don't complain when it is on your side.  If this has happened to you. I will pretty much guarantee it has happened for you.  I guess when RNG is on your side that is skill right?

If he set someone on fire, How is he meant to know if he damaged their engine or not? highly doubt he uses the eagle eye perk :P

Each and every time an engine gets hit, no matter how little damage is done, there is a 10%-20% risk of a fire starting.

Module damage is only recorded (turning yellow or red) if the health-points for the module goes below 50%.
