So I am in my FV304 and approx 2ft away from a Heavy Tank........I shoot and miss.  This has happened to me a lot recently and I am getting pretty fed up with it to be honest.

When I am so close to the enemy that my commander could stick his head out the hatch and spit on them then I expect my vehicle to be able to hit something.

My apologies for rage post but yeah.....it is what it is and I am bloody furious atm.

Try to drive straight at it then hit the brakes so your barrel points downward a bit more then shoot.

Because that is how the human mind works, you are too annoyed with it to remember it correctly.

That's why: photo/screenshot or it didn't happen.

Because 60 cm means you were basically touching hulls. If that happens to you a lot, you really should change the way you play SPG's...

Your problem isn't that you missed, your problem is that you've found yourself 2ft away from an enemy heavy tank. That's not how you arty.

That is because the game is programmed so that 5% of all shots will miss no matter how close you are. That is because the RNG rolls are rolls on tables with rows and columns rather than using true dispersion. This goes for hit location and damage as well - ever wondered why you hit the tracks so many times compared to the area those really cover? Now you know.

Thank you for what seems to be a plausable answer that doesn't arbitrarily dismiss my claim.  You sir, are a scholar and a gentleman! ;)

Right, thread can be closed then as we have another tin foil hat admirer. Some random forum user just states 5% of shots miss, without actually having any supporting evidence for this, and as it suits your warped view and is exactly what you want to hear that's what you will go with. It's hilarious how you simply acknowledge such nonsense just like that. Here:

"That is because the game is programmed so that 5% of all shots will miss no matter how close you are." <<< >>> "That is because the RNG rolls are rolls on tables with rows and columns rather than using true dispersion." Let's start with the obvious 'plucked out of thin air 5% value. Then move on to how the implied causality is non-existent: Even if the dispersion rolls are based on tables, that in itself does not provide any support for the afore mentioned 5%. It could just as easily be 0%, or 50%. Or anything else. Lastly there's no such thing as hit location RNG; there's dispersion, penetration, and damage.

Calling someone who just blurts out random unfounded nonsense a scholar and gentleman just shows this thread should be closed straight away, as you're not interested in any plausible explanation.

I believe that the onus is on the person claiming "the truth" to prove it.

If I remember right that FV could run circles round a fair few heavies. Been a while though.
