Read the wiki, it's all there.

Or any other "Why did he get more XP???1"-thread, it gets explained quite often.

http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Battle_Mechanics#Tank_Experience_and_Credits

When you did most of your 4700 damage there were several other tanks involved that you had to share experience with - including 1800 sniping damage where there would have been other spotters sharing the XP.

When he did most of his 3100 damage there were less tanks involved and so he got a larger share of the XP - only 850 sniping damage where the XP will have been shared.

There was one enemy that you both attacked and both got the same share of (949 XP).

Read the freakin WIKI, and search for other threads like it first ffs. Seriously, is that really too much to ask?

Wrong.

Wrong.

Wrong.

Damage dealt over 300 meters distance isn't necessarily shared: It's perfectly possibly to spot targets yourself at over 300 meters and thus get the full XP. The 949 assisted damage is damage neither of them has done, it's what the remaining team mates inflicted on target(s) spotted by both of them. Furthermore, there's no confirmation whatsoever XP for damage dealt varies depending on how many team members are still around.

Except he's wrong. Read above. And read the linked wiki yourself.

True, considering the view range the tank has, he can spot targets on his own at that range. But still I suspect some of his damage was on others spotting, when the 140 got more of less. And it's an equal tier game, so no tier difference penalty, no did they get many first spots to get a big difference on that. So shared assist XP one of few solutions. Or the 140 did more damage at 200m or closer even, as that gives a small bonus. But without a replay, all we can do is speculate.

As for your last point. There is indeed no confirmation, even on the wiki about bonus or penalty xp based on how many are around. But if they are all in a brawling area vs in a support role, there is more tracking going on. Thus shared assist XP from others, or to others etc is a possibility. So even when pushing as a group, there are variables.

a) while the Wiki lists the factors influencing the XP result we don't know how they are weighted (esp. for stuff like "team performance bonus" )

b) not all factors involved are listed in the result screen

Which means that (assuming the wiki is correct and complete) at most we can make some educated guesses here how some XP results are generated, but only WG itself could provide a reliable answer.

Correct. And almost definitely OP dealt damage to opponents not spotted by himself. But the damage split between below and above 300 meters is no indication whatsoever; damage below 300 meters can be dealt to opponents not spotted, whereas damage dealt above 300 m can be against spotted opponents. Or both not spotted, or both spotted, or vice versa. As such, what StinkyStonky is implying simply is false, incorrect.

We can see the assisted damage in the provided screen shots, and it's equal for both. Thus it is reasonable to assume they shared it for the same target which was damaged by (an)other player(s) on the team. The only variables we have left is damage inflicted below 200 meters, and critical damage, along with the afore mentioned 50% awarded XP for damage inflicted on opponents not spotted by the inflicter.
