I can expect a storm of Wargaming empathizers but this is my personal and quite shocking experience from being a regular player for a year and buying a 80-days premium account for the first time.

From the start to a couple of hours ago I have been a free player meaning I have never spent a crown on this game whether it being premium time or premium tanks. I'm aware you do get around two days of premium after registering for the first time but back then I didn't even know what the term premium was in World of Tanks. The gold I have received mainly came from promotions and events, something I'm glad Wargamng do from time to time.

My performance playing with a normal account has been pretty average to below average since I'm not a very good competetive player. You win some you lose some, right? Never considered myself as a good player at all in World of Tanks and my standard outcome from battles usually land me on either dying pretty early on or getting one to four kills. My latest tank I unlocked was a tier six medium before I put down the game for a bit.

Decided to return to the game the other day and thought why not buy some premium time and some gold. So I went ahead and got the 80-days premium.

And I must say HOLY COW I was performing above my average skill. Most shots lands a perfect hit, enemy shells kept bouncing when I would normally be dead and I now suddenly get six to eight kills per battle. This went on for I don't know how many rounds. The win and loss ratio wasn't affected much but man I was contributing like I have never done before in tanks i usually never do that good in. The last few battles I did tonight didn't go that well but I clearly was doing a much better job than I did before and I by the end I had unlocked a whole new tier. Probably the best feeling ever playing World of Tanks. If this is some sort of sales-pitch Wargaming is using to get people to buy premium I never want to stop.

That brings me to the question. To me no doubt buying a premium account somehow changed how the game treat me. I have heard stories about the weird matchmaker and I'm starting to believe it favors premium accounts putting them in battles where they will get the most out of their game for the majority of the time, and putting normal non-premium nincompoops against horrible odds.

Of course if this really is the case its really, really bad. But still hilarious at the same time.

Could just be, RNG. or now that you're running a prem account you're playing more aggresive to try and get even more credits, and xp out of it, or alternatively playing more carefully to try and get more creds and xp out of it again? And using gold to train up your crews to make them better would also have a major affect on it; Ive always had a premium account, buy loads of premium tanks too, and i get really bad RNG sometimes, really good RNG sometimes,

Mainly bad as WG seem to target me and want to ruin my stats:hiding:

Not gonna get on more tonight but will probably do tomorrow so we'll see. That was an amazing RNG attack in that case. :P

It's probably you or a small sample size. I played a bit on a friend's account to help out a bit. Bought a few days of prem, and the highlight was probably a ten-streak loss. :)

Well, my experience OP was the opposite. I am generally a free player. First ever batch of premium time I ever got and I had a horrendous losing streak. Happens.

I know a great tinfoil vendor if you're running low on supplies.

It's normal to play better after a break, your interest level has risen and that reflects in your play.

Well.. I was one of those that more or less had a premium time running from day one for a few years. Bought most prem tanks in the tech tree on all tiers etc. Then in late 2015 I did stop buying premium time,  and not bought a tier 7/8 prem tank since even. Only thing I've bought the last 2 years is the 3 last tier 6 premiums for new nations.

And after I did stop giving WG money... I did feel just the same as you did now buying it for the first time. Even tho grinds was longer, I've enjoyed the game more. Felt like I got better RNG, got less stupid teams, had less bad losing streaks, and I just had more fun. Tho could be because I really did stop caring about some aspects of the game, and just focused on having fun. As in playing tanks I enjoy vs having 5 stock grinds at the same time.

What exactly does that mean? I mean... in numbers.

Did you reroll your account when starting to play again?

Now try keeping the same WR and DPG (with a positive trend) for longer than a month. Or just get some tinfoil. I heard it's like Prem. account, only helps to get laid.

Probably just playing better after having a break, and spending money increases the attention span of some people, if not that a bigger sample is needed because you could simply have got lucky.

I'v been on and off on premium time last year. And i saw abs no difference, except in exp/silver gain. You see with prem acc i can play my tier 9 tanks and rarely loose money. While withought i would certainly loose silver.

it's probably more to do with having such a low average battle per day count prior to buying prem time matey, this game requires a lot of practice to get any good, chuck in a good luck/RNG streak for good measure, and the fact you're now playing tier 5-6 rather than down in the low tiers where it's all a bit... random

I play free for a few weeks, then buy 30 days prem, then go free again, I've had weeks long good streaks on free time, and I've had weeks long bad streaks on prem time, and visa versa. Your recent performance has no significance until you've played +1k battles in higher tiers anyway

Had a slightly too long a stretch on premium time that just ended. I can honestly tell you if anything I saw the exact opposite happen to me performancewise. Lately my stats have nosedived  and if OP's theory is right, they will now plummet and hit rock bottom.... :hiding:

373 games is a tiny sample size.

A quick glance over at noobmeter reveals that for your most recent battles, out of 126 matches you chose artillery 55 times (more than 40%) whereas in all the 247 matches before you didn't even play them once

It didn't occur to you that this rather drastic change in which tank type you chose might have affected your performance?

Not really - but in that case you need to have something you can directly compare.

Long story short: Confirmation bias at its finest.

I hardly never spend cash on the game, the few times when I run the game with a premium account I feel "forced" to play more than normal, losing focus in the process, so even if I gain more XP and credits my results go down a lot.

Basically I agree. For every day you have premium time most of it's going to get wasted.
