tanks.gg's 3D models are not precise enough I can't really assess my tank's vulnerabilities using them.

for example, the VK 45.02B 's tracks are badly modeled, making it impossible to check penetration from warious angles when an enemy shoots through the tracks.

A CDC just penned me shooting through the tracks at an almost frontal angle, maybe 30°C.

I would like to know the thickness of armor at that point and anywhere else on my tanks? where can I find that information?

The underside of the mudgard is definitely a weekspot, perhaps that's where you got hit?

They look pretty normal to me:

Edit: Besides, tanks.gg just read the game files, any model viewer will do that, so it will look the same in regardless of tool you use.

They really need to fix some of their visual models though. The suspension on the Leo (as a example) has been broken ever since it first got added. <.<

Just had a look at the Leo and yeah hehe that looks a "bit" wrong :P

Edit: Looks kinda cool in Hybrid view though ;)

Not sure I 100% get what you are getting at. But if you look at SuedKAT image. On the middle left on the blue button that says "visual". Change that to live so you can better see behind the tracks for armor differences. As that makes crit hit modules like tracks and gun transparent. Hover your mouse over any point on the armor after setting the angle, and via the tool tip window that appears, it should say the effective armor at that angle for both the track and armor behind it. And under impacted armor, it will list the tracks armor thickness "SP" and the actual armor behind it. VK's tracks are 25mm. And anything behind it is basically 120mm. But you can use the live model to calculate the effective armor at any angle.

You can use the CDC as a comparison via the compare button. To see how his chances are of penning at different angles via the live model. As then it will show it in the tool tip window under "results". As either absorbed, 25% chance or bounce etc. Might give you a better idea why he penned you where at what angle, and the chance he had.

German tanks are famous for random weakspot on the front where you can get penetrated... German gun mantlet is one of that random weakspots, and part of tracks on the front... Its not stronk ruski design where 20mm of spaced armor can eat 300mm+ of penetration, and where even front wheel can be black hole for shells... Only maus and new VK-P are exception in that old obsolete German design...

ok, using the collision 3D model, the tracks are modeled as a full volume.

I got shot approximatively at the point designated by the upper left corner of the overlaid infobox and approximatively from that angle.

I know where I got hit because I have the mod installed where one can precisely see impact points and angles.

The thing is that the impact points you see in your client don't necessarily need to be correct, neither does the shell tracers etc, what you see in your client and what the server see can be very different and the server rule over the client. Also the hit box and the live model ain't the same, this is why model viewers like tanks.gg show how the hit box is actually modeled since that's what will determine the actual result when a shoot hits your armor.  Regarding the mod you have installed to see angles etc, depending on exactly what that is I hope you don't use that in Random battles since that's not something the fair play police like that much.

it's a garage mod with which I can see hits after the battle, so no problem with that.

I see, still though I'm fairly certain that it only will display what your client perceived as the "truth" so to speak and not what actually happened on the server which means that what you see can be quite far from where the enemy shell actually impacted. That's why you at times can damage a tank even though it looks like you missed, the server and the client data mismatched a bit but the server overruled the client in the end so to speak.

Any inspectors that show critical spots? Like an engine, ammo rack and crew member locations so I know where they are so that I can learn to shoot them?

The best I know of is: http://www.wotinfo.n...icle=hitzone_m4

Click on "Hitzones" and then just pick the tank you want

It will give you pics like these:

Not sure exactly how updated they are, since there are tanks in there that ain't in the game and quite a few of the newer ones missing.
