And what about those that don't?

How is it decided whether a tank

in WOT should have a log?

I think WG should offer logless versions

of tanks with logs, and maybe vice versa as well.

For those who like logs on tanks and for those who don't.

You should really try to limit your "activity" here to liking dumb/weird posts and the occasional post every now and then. That's kind of funny. Your pointless threads aren't.

Dear qpranger,

Appalling of WG to issue new tanks with logs all over them.

As for the pink toilet roll trailing in the breeze, well the camo rating must go up the sh1tter.

Regards

Tommy

Maybe its due to more and more trees and rain forests being cut down in the real world, Its a problem in the real world and im sure its also a problem in the World Of Tanks. I knock over thousands of trees, Logs gotta go somewhere otherwise its a waste

Oh I know what the log is for, I just wonder why some tanks are not deemed worthy by WG of carrying the useful log.

Ohh, only the 'Stalinium armor' equipped russian bias tanks are eligible to have a log.

If you want all capitalist pigs to have logs on their tanks, you must go on a trip to far east Siberia to cut some thousands trees with your fork - this will change your perspective on the logs.

I would imagine it would be based on a philosophy that tanks need to be self sufficient in the field and are operating far from recovery vehicles and that they shouldn't be abandoned. The German Army for example had recovery vehicles for their expensive to replace tanks, the Americans and British tended to jump into another tank if it gets stuck, and all three had tanks that were designed for conventional relatively small terrain battles. But the Soviets had rugged tanks that were designed to operate over wide open spaces, very often without a tree in sight for hundreds of miles, and without as much close support, thus necessitating greater self sufficiency. As British and American armies gradually  pushed forward faster and faster in WWII, and operated further from support, so you would see them all adopting a similar strategy of self sufficiency and carrying unditching logs rather than need to find a tree to cut down.

So as WG improve the look of many tanks when they get the HD makeover, or introduce new tanks, they then have the opportunity to better reflect authenticity in the equipment likely to be carried.

^^^^now that IS an answer...

I, on the other hand, weakly heard that its part of a  larger marketing strategy, coming under the remit of subconscious or subliminal techniques, whereby it was deemed that the constant appearance of such objects in and around the game would initiate in players a kind of continuous 'ticking off', or logging (ha ha - excuse the pun), of which tanks do or do not possess such things, setting up in said players a repetitive interior monologue, almost a chant, such as : "...that tank has a log on...that tank doesn't...that tank has a log on...that tank doesn't..." and so on which, taking advantage of the almost instinctual - if not primeval - human urge to rhythmical incantation, could be in some way exploited for WG's benefit.  Discussion apparently continued and it was pointed out that repetition over time mean't that these repeated phrases, this quasi-mnemonic, would quite naturally and inevitably get shortened by the players themselves and this, interestingly enough, is apparently where the matter became more hotly disputed in WG's advertising offices, according to my source, with some absolutely maintaining that the shortened rubric of "...that tank has a log on...that tank doesn't" would naturally become something like "...does...doesn't...does...doesn't...", whilst others vehemently argued that the eventual conversation players would be having in their heads would be much closer to "...log on...log off...log on...log off...".  It seems, anyway, that the latter group won the day in the end, apparently partly due to the heavy stress those who favoured it placed on the deciding nature of the immediate environment that gamers operate in whilst playing WOT, and thus WG's marketing boffs were set free to continue flooding the game with stripped down trees in their strategy of trying to subliminally insinuate the game of WOT into every action that players make once they sit in front of a computer screen.

I was ashen-faced when I woodenly said to the person who told me this that i thought he was barking up the wrong tree.

They added more logs exactly because you could make an yet another useless topic that "somehow" is supposed to be relevant to the gameplay section.

Not many of his posts (any?) are about gameplay, the whole exercise of allowing his unregulated random thoughts out into the public domain is ultimately aimed at inflating his posting tally.
