So I haven't played for ages and I just downloaded the client and played a few matches.

Noticed that the BatChat 25t (tier 10) has a new shiny HD model. But what the heck, that thing is huge. Did some comparisons and I present you the data:

Old SD model: https://i.imgur.com/zCA3rdR.png

Has one of my favourite tanks been nerfed? It is almost as big as a T57 Heavy now.

Don't know if it's been nerfed, but it certainly looks a bit crap compared to the previous version. A lot less mean.

Turret got bigger.

It's just another case of FV4202 where they get the model wrong. It just doesn't seem right by any standard.

On tanks.gg you can compare the old and the new armor model.

BC has a little nerf with HD version but it is not really noticeable in battles.

Yeh the FV4202 is a lot worse, IRL it had this cool low profile sloped turret -

In game it has this massive ugly head -

Which is too big and too high of the hull. Look at the difference in the turret ring, it's like twice the height and the turret in game is way less sloped than real life one.

Some models are honestly quite bad, for example when you have two different versions of the same tanks (supposed to be built on the same chassis) and they have big differences in proportions.

Compare Pz IV A and and the new HD model of Pz IV D for example, the A is for some reason considerably taller.

Thanks.

I wonder if this was an intentional nerf or accident. Since the IRL model turret is smaller.

Funny thing. Most of this tanks have real blue prints, with quoted dimension. Even a 16 years old guy, with a basical knowledge of a CAD program, can change this blue prints in an accurate 3D model.

To be honest I don't mind the slight nerf to size, but it's giving me eye cancer.

Luckily you didn't see 1st version where 105mm looked like stock gun. Ewww.

What did you use to make that animation if I may ask?

They just changed it to the IRL measurments. ATM the model is what should be from beginning.

They have changed tank sizes at a way of "balance" before if they are commonly hard to hit.. or to easy to hit. But I don't recall that being mentioned in the patch notes for the BC.  But in the case of the FV 4202. It just made it worse with that bigger turret.

Hmmm, i compared the versions between 9.19 and 9.20 and indeed Bat-Chat is bigger in 9.20. Mostly the turret got bigger.

Nice silent nerf WG....

Photoshop CS6's Animation-feature. It's just 6 layers looped.

So easy to see how that mistake happened.

The turret was lying around at Bovington on the ground when it was subject to detailed measurements by WG.

What they then failed to do when they modelled it was remember that the turret ring does not totally sit on top of the tank as if the hull was a bit of gravel, but actually  goes into the hull .

IIRC some tank models are outsourced - wouldn't put it past a designer not knowledgeable about actual tank designs to think that it's like putting a soup bowl on top of a table. FV4202 isn't even the first tank with this problem.
