So. After 2 years playing this game and ~15k matches I have to say my opinion.

After the recent few patches which have hit the servers there have been good things and bad things. For about a year now, I've been hoping to see whenever there is some buffs comming for some tanks that there will be IS-6 on the list.. BUT NO. The gun is trash! Armor is trash! Well armor is not full trash but mostly, yes. 175mm of standard pen and 217mm in premium ammunition is just not enough for a tier 8 tank.

And yes, it does have a preferentual matchmaking but so what? With pref mm you still meet waaaay often tier 9 tanks and usually not the top three, but top 5 of them in a single match. 'Cause of the new matchmaking system it kills any advantage what old preferentual matchmaking gave you. It's not funny trying to shoot new tier 8 heavies (Defender, Liberté, Patriot, VK100, buffed Löwe, Type 4 etc) with a gun that suppose to be in a tier 7 tank. Or even worse when you meet tier 9's. Nevertheless, all those tanks just need to look at you and BLAM, penetration!

About the armor in IS-6 it is just too easy to penetrate from upper hull or even from the turret. 6-7 out of 10 it's allways a penetration even from lower tier tanks. Even some tier 6 tanks are laughing for it's armor. For example, new buffed Löwe is a nightmare for IS-6 (also Defender and all tanks I mentioned before). IS-6 can't penetrate it's lower plate in 80% of cases with standard ammo or allmost nowhere from front while Löwe is laughing and raping you stil.

About the KV-5. I haven't played it ever. BUT, I've seen my friends playing it and also read so many posts from this forum about it that I needed to mention it in this too.

So, dear WG, is it finally time to give some love for the older premiums than just hitting new OP premiums in to the game? I don't want IS-6 to be OP, but I definitely want it to be competetive and a tank, which you can play without having a mental breakdown.

Thank You.

Cry me a river.

The IS6 is idiot proof, however, this is even more the case for defender or Chrysler.

There are several topics about the IS-6 just below this. No need to make more. IS-6 and KV-5 is set for buffs when the RU gets their nation balance I suspect. WG is not 100% how to do it yet. In terms of their limited MM that is.

The armor isn't trash, but it is very trollish. Sometimes it can deflect loads of gold ammo, sometimes it lets in every shot. The gun is trash though and feels inferior to other 122's with 175 pen as well.

Oh my, one more of those topics.

The 97th will definetely be more useful than the previous ones.

Q: Will the IS-6 get a ‘new coat of paint’, if ever?
A: It’s really easy – we just need to increase the penetration and remove preferential matchmaking. Or keep the pref MM and compensate in other departments. Right now we still don’t know which solution is the best one.

IS-6 is still 10x better than the type 59.

Or the 34-3.

IS-6 has the rate of fire and good armor that partially makes up for the poor pen. T-34-3 has neither. Hype 59 is so bad nowadays it's not funny anymore.

What I find really interesting is that even if WG knows that these tanks are underforming at the moment, they are still on the "top shelf" in the Premium Shop and the IS-6 is the third most expensive premium after T34 and FCM 50t.

Yep another thread about the obvious PMM tanks and of course the 167mm of pen on the KV5 which is just terrible. Keep posting perhaps after 2k or so threads on the issue perhaps WG will hear us and fix the problem.

Duno i like IS-6. I have good memories with it. My first premium. LOVED IT SO MUCH and played an army of games in a row.

When i take it out for a spin, still love it.

Just must not forget to press key 2 2x times...

And avoid the likes of defender unless i can punish it while its engaged with something else...

Best part is though.

From the release of IS-6 up until like 14-15 months ago, IS-6 was one of the best T8 tanks in the game.

So now you might wonder, why did they nerf the IS-6 so badly?

A: This is WoT and WG, they simply don't nerf tanks, they just buff and release new stronger tanks making old tanks more and more obsolete.

I guess people miss their OP tank. But get upset when type 59 owners ask for some love.

I deem every tank with that gun on tier eight garbage compared to the competition.
Say what you will, but I clearly get better results in other tanks.
With that penetration you need to snipe weakspots..  Good luck with that!
If not accuracy and everything this else on those guns are not bad enough,  rng strikes 50% of the time

Remove not so special mm and I would hardly notice a difference..
Stopped playing these tanks.  Why should I?

IS6 was never nerfed. They just accidentally released some even better tanks...

If is-6 needs buffs after so many buffs what shall we,the fcm owners, say ?? FCM is by far one of the most under powered tanks....give 2 extra degrees of gun depression and some soft stat buffs to the gun and i will shut up forever

Or a three shot autoloader with 15-20s reload time, 2s aimtime and 3.4 dispersion.

Yeah, purchasing Kv-5 has been by far, worst idea - ever. Tank has potential, but it needs a buff so bad. Can't believe they buff other tanks before ones that need it the most. Just ridiculous.
I don't even know why i keep spending money on this game. It seems like its just going worse and worse.
