guys, what's your opinion on unplayable stock tanks?

do you think it's ok to have those in the game?

Isn't every single stock tank unplayable? I can't remember when was last time I didn't cut corners with a good bit of free exp. Save your sanity, stock up on free exp.

Stock ST-I; have fun with your 175mm pen & lousy gunhandling at T9 (0,46 accuracy & 3.4 sec aimtime, have 'fun';), complete with lousy turret (170mm armor, yay!)

They do teach you the value of saving up your free XP however & not spend it lightly to skip tanks, rather invest it in modules to improve the stock grind (second gun makes the ST-I already bearable to grind)

Also, with ST-I you do get revenge, it's a beast when fully elited. Make the reds suffer for all the pain you went through grinding the ST-I.

actually, there are a lot of stock tanks that are bad, but still playable.

stock tanks are unplayable when they have neither view range, nor speed, nor armor, nor a decent gun.

think about... stock T-34, Chaffee and M7 ... the problem is that skipping stock grind on these would use up a lot of free XP.

I would support giving stock tanks at least one of the things I listed above to start out, either speed or a decent gun would help to get things going.

I can't remember the last non Tier 10 or Premium tanks that I didn't have to free xp at least the first gun upgrade. They are all [edited]awful stock, and their mm doesn't get changed. You are usually shitter than the lower tier version, but vs higher tier opponents.

One that surprised me recently was the stock Caernarvon. 171 pen and 150 damage at tier 8 meeting tier 9s and 10s in almost every battle was abysmal to say the least in a tank with the mobility of a semi detached house

Quite a few tier 7s have started off with pen not much above 100 too like 125 ish which when combined with a slow tank and almost artillery class accuracy can make the grind and "actual" grind

Stock Börsig is perfect.

Well, it means the tank will not get any better and you better stock up on kits though.

Generally recently introduced tanks have less savage grinds than old school tanks. So they are really making grinds less painful. You can compare T-34 to Type T-34 and you'll see difference in about 2 years of release of same tank.

Try old school tier 9s. E-50, M46 Patton and T-54 have mental grinds. Also, I remember T-29 with ear weakspots and 40k exp required to unlock 105mm. :D

I don't agree about the E-50.

Usually it will come with the 8.8 KwK L/100 already researched - with 223 pen, nice accuracy and 2880 DPM it allows for some nice flanking shots.

Not played one for years.

In fact I think the last one was the Tiger II apart from messing about with the Swedish TDs so I could sell them at a profit.

And no weight capacity. And that's only last 2 patches or so. I remember people grinding it with 132 mm stock pen. :D

Also, T95 upon a time couldn't get enhanced suspension equipment, so you couldn't dodge grinding tracks. :D

Pretty much anything with only one gun/sidegrade is ok on stock. The biggest problem for me are tanks without a good transitional gun between the top and stock one. The moronic second gun on Charioteer was what - singlehandedly - made me free exp bad stock grinds... Recently I free exped all the UDES upgrades, after playing two battles on stock. And right now I'm in the process of getting the 100k for WZ 111 1-4. I'd rather grind the 113 and 5A with a tier 1 than play with that shitty 100mm...

And damn, the E50... I played it long before they gave Panther the 88/L100. I decided to not research the L100 and play with L71. Don't think I ever played anything that changed so drastically after fitting the top gun. From a useless, giant HP brick to my favorite (at the time) tank.

No, and I believe WG is onto removing at least some of the worst offenders. Like the M48 Patton, it now starts with the top gun. WZ-120 was... not fun. Didn't have the, uhm, 140k-ish to make it elite back then. :(

the worst is quite obviously the ARL V39

you get a tier 3 (yes tier 3!) stock gun and you cant mount any other gun or module, or even camo net, without upgrading the tracks first

if you don't free xp that, your going to have a lot of "fun"

i really hated the E50 grind until the topgun

concqueror wasnt nice without topgun

wz111 1-4 driving around with stock or mid gun is a pain in the ***

TVP even if you got all modules its still bad and you just need another > 150k to elite it

probably the worst case might be the amx 48  with its 64k for just the topgun

guess you could count on the st. emil in that list too since its smaller guns are rather useless without prem. ammo

That is why it was good to plan ahead, tank is sitting there fully equipped for me to finish the grind to the 113. Not sure who thought it is a good idea that you have to go through both heavy and light line to unlock everything, with the light tank changes now you cannot even unlock the gun from there.

So you need around 90k free exp just to be able to equip the top gun (45k for the second gun, 23,5k for the turret and 22k for the tracks though this can be skipped with torsion bars I think), this all assuming you went over the hassle of unlocking the 113, if not than good luck, nothing will save your soul.

Wz111111111111111-11111114 (I can't remember how many ones there are) is pretty horrific with the 175 pen srock gun.

Conqueror.

Without turret and last gun is a steaming pile of crap.
