The UDES armour bounces almost never, but what about the latter if you own it? How troll is its armour compared to the UDES? And the increased traverse speed in siege mode? I am quite tempted by the current offer that includes 30 days of premium and so on. I have learned to like the UDES but I cannot always stay hidden so I need better brawl ability. To me the STRV S1 seems a better tank all round, the speed limit of 50 is good enough IMHO.

I have one, dont play it much. only things you can bounce when front on is 90mm guns or lower, so mainly tier 8 mediums, apart from the russian ones with their 100mm

well in low tier game where you face pew pew guns, STRV S1 is big troll, but enything biger than 90mm wil just overmatch you, and any bounce is just lucky one...

I love my S1.  You troll bounce the odd shot.  But its defence is not to be seen.  Im quite aggressive in mine.  And it prints money.

But the gun is fixed.  The Udes can at least elevate.

I enjoyed the UDES, but after getting the Strv103-0 I'm never looking back. It's so nice to be able to be spotted every once in a while and not be immediately deleted and push the tempo when it's needed instead of constantly hanging around on the edge of view range. I can imagine the S1 being a bit of an in-between.

Just to add.  I have a female x5 skill crew.  That makes a massive difference.

How much of a problem is this in siege mode?

None at all. But sometimes you can not activate the UDES' siege mode, so you can run away when needed, at the expense of the reload time.

Indeed; the UDES can function like a shitty ELC AMX in a pinch. S1 has to stick its gun into the enemy tank.

I believe there's been two or three times over 150-ish battles where I could actually rely on the armor in brawling. Still, it can prove useful if you know the gun calibres well.
Anyway, S1 is more usable as a medium-range support/hill fighter than you'd think. Turret or not, the camo/mobility/depression combo is workable at medium distance. Superior to Skorpion for long-range fights - though of course you lose what the Skorpion is most fun as - shotgun-range gunboat. If only the matchmaker and maps didn't encourage basecamping and "vision gameplay"...

UDES is better because you can move around faster, however bouncing all those 90mm guns can be fun.

If you enjoy the UDES then you'll enjoy the STRV

Never had the S1.

But have the Strv 103B.

So have played the bigger brothers!

I loved the Udes.

It is like a skate board.

The tier 9 & X are awesome aswell.

Check the DPM! I have a feeling the Udes is better.

Yes armour is an issue.

But if your knowledgable enough to stay unspotted??? UDES!!! :izmena:

What I will say about any TD, especially regarding the Udes is good map knowledge of positions to use, makes an enormous difference to what is posible.

That only comes with experience!

Get in the right position with either & you will rule!

If your inexperienced they will be frustrating as hell!

Good luck!

UDES has:

- Better camo

- Better mobility

- Better gun depression/elevation

- Better accuracy

Strv S1 has:

- better gun handling (no need to aim when turning the tank)

- Better armor

- Slightly better DPM

- Makes money

- Leaves siege mode faster

- Faster in siege mode

I would say Strv S1 is a better vehicle overall, and as a premium tank it's the best one for money making because 288 pen lol.

Don't have S1 but have UDES and 103b must admit like the UDES better.

Even though 103b can bounce plenty of shots, did in one battle block some 4.5k damage, you won't do this in UDES.

Can't really say why maybe it's because in a T10 battle UDES can still hold its own provided you aren't spotted and perhaps enjoy the challenge of taking on T10s

Hang on, I thought the camo was basically the same?

How much worse is it on S1? Noticeable in battle situations?

Dude,  The S1 is a great tank, I would recommend it. I can sit out in the middle of highway, and not get spotted. In fact, on maps with no lights tanks, I've taken that role, Fire Salent, Malenovka (Spelling?)   I've been shot at for out spotting the light tanks (for not doing their jobs properly.

It will become my most played T8 machine.... and I love my Charioteer.  Because of the 300% crew bonuses and playing it the same female crew (started in the Leo) its just ticked over and started its 6th skill.

But to answer your questions, No it doesn't seem to make a difference. I found the UDES quicker, But the Pen on the S1 i feel comfortable in a Tier 10 battle (on the right map) and I've only dabbed my 2 key once.

It is so noticable that if you put S1 on one side and UDES on another side, they would probably both camp behind double bush whole game... Both TDs have insane value when they dont move, add to that double bush, and enemy cant spot you even if you are in front of their nose. Its just hilarious to shot big HTs in face within 100m and you can see confused turret moving becouse they cant see you... So what you really want is to position yourself in clasic HT brawling line, find some bushes, put some range between you and them, and shot them in face... OFC, if you get map like stalingrad you wont do drown yourself :P

My UDES crew camo is almost 100% now and I am getting the UDES camo value stat at about 64, I wonder how much lower it would be on the S1. I assume the over-the-ridge hull-down peeking setup is at least the same, i.e. the enemy would see as little of me on S1 as it does when I use the UDES?

Sadly 90mm immunity is a gun not many people like at tier 8, so you wont face enough of anything with a 90mm for the armor of a S1 to be worth a dam. S1 and UDES should not have been implemented the way they was. they took away overmatch changes and that was night and day as to how these tanks was supposed to ACTUALLY play in the first place. now they only have great pen and poor dpm/damage on a terrible platform that cant do anything but Siege Mode and get spotted at the red line then die to everything....again due to Siege Mode.

I have the S1, nice tank.  IMO the UDES is better because it gets you to tier IX :P

My opinion would be, Get the WZ-120-1FGT  its got beast dpm with MORE damage and metric f*** tons of armor when you are above/using full gundep. yeh the guns a little derpy but you can run GLD/Rammer/Bonocs as its viewrange is 380 BASE! (S1/UDES has a pitifull 350). 120FGT (nickname i call it) is a utter beast top tier because of the traits it has. Amazing Gun/armor/mobility/TURNS ON A DIME!.

UDES/S1 top tier is HORRIBLE! you cant be agressive, you dont have armor (even S1! because there is even tier 5 tanks with guns that can overmatch you!) you cant turn on the spot to defend yourself. because of your pitifull 390 alpha you cant be agressive, you are 1000% at the mercy of your team due to your Siege Mode. i beg the MM to make me bottom tier in my S1 and end up top tier and feel the dread set in my stomach knowing i would rather be in a KV-85 with the 122mm...
