I am about to unlock the T92 HMC arty and I have never owned a tier 10 arty before, never seen the appeal because tier 8-9 arties seem good enough and they get to see lower tiers, especially recently. But I am tempted to try it in ranked battles and see how it goes. Has anyone here played arty in ranked battles and is brave enough to talk about it?

Played Obj261 last night, gained chevron in the first 3 battles, then got bottom 5 on a win, then lost a chevron.

From my recent foray into arty it seems the way to get exp is to stun tanks which are about to be set upon by several of your own team.  It's probably no help at all and they would be dead if you didn't stun them but you get the assist damage.  To that end the low damage rapid firing runs of the French arty seem to be better than the slow firing big guns of the US.  Hitting some well dug in hull down target for 100 HP is probably more help to your team because it might make them relocate but it gets you little exp.

Worth mentioning that between a third and a half of the ranked queue was arty last night.

So for all the trolls saying it's no fun or it's not popular, the stats don't back that up.
