There are a huge amount of problems with this game but AFK must be one of the easier problems to solve.

I always make an effort when I play but it is galling to die and see your team losing badly to see one or two key tanks idle in base. Tanks that do nothing but are killed in base get XP for spotting. Players who move at the last moment and fire a gun still get XP.

The other a day Sheridan had a rant during the first 30 seconds then promptly drove off and drowned in a 3+5+7 MM. We still won and he got 350XP, for what?

How often do you see players deliberately drown? I missed out on a Pools Medal once because a player suicided.

I have often checked player ratings of AFK/Bot players. There is a common trend where they have had high volume games in tanks with exceptionally low WR and well below average XP. Surely it easy to statistically prove who is botting or persistently AFKing.

As for drowning or HE suicide I think financially there should be a high credit penalty. If it was accidental then tough luck but it would discourage people doing it on purpose too often.

If a player is AFK for a large period during a battle and 10 people report him for inaction then auto fine him credits and XP. 10 reports from one battle would most likely cancel out malicious reports so auto fining could be done. If it was malicious let the defendant provide a game replay file to refute the fine. At the moment in game reporting seems worthless and ignored.

Does anybody else have any good ideas because the current penalties do not work?

And it always did but there is nothing you can do about it. And i guess it is hard to draw a line between being really bad (which is not an offence) and being AFK. The XP penalty for inactivity helped though.

Basically everybody gets the same crap so best not get worked up about it and just worry about your own gameplay?

Yes, it's annoying but easy to fix. But it's also WG, they don't like fixes. Especially not the easy ones.

Are you really asking that question?

So if you get a job and then don't turn up for work do you think you should get paid a retainer or paid nothing?

I think he means ANYTHING is too much of a reward for the bot squad if they just AFK or drown.... If one is inactive in the game or drown in the first 5mins then you shouldn't just get below average XP/credits; you should get nothing.

How often does this genuinely happen though?  afk in base can sometimes be an iffy connection or a knock at the door.  Deliberate suicide; I have seen 5 or 6 in nearly 50k battles. I agree it;s frustrating.  How much more frustrating would it be to get an XP or credits penalty if your connection goes shonky as you click battle?

That's easy to compensate for, you can work out a system where if a player doesn't move out of the cap circle for, I don't know, more than 3 out of 100 battles or whatever, it's a ban. If someone's internet is so bad they are AFK that much they should not play multiplayer games. And I don't think anyone's door rings that often unless they are super duper popular.

Only give out XP to the top 12 or even top 10 in every battle.

Forgot to say, if you are so popular that your door bell rings every 10 games, then, man, go out there and be a celebrity. Make a rap album. The world is your oyster.

It happens a lot. I was chatting after game with someone the other day. He had a 48% WR but was actually an alright player. He admitted to me that he had played his first 12k battles by botting. He wasn't interested in grinding he just wanted to get to the top. There is a huge swathe of people that do this. As for the door bell or poor internet, well you've entered a commitment to play an online game. If you cannot make that commitment then you should be punished.

If someone doesn't move after the first 100~ seconds after the battle started, he should get 0 exp and credits, and if someone drowns he must get 0 exp/credits also, doesnt matter when he drowned, in the start/middle/end of battle, they should lose credits cuz of it.. those arty bloody noobs...

Wow, you are really, really lucky! I see at least one AFK in almost every battle and suicides at least once per day.

Yes, bad connections can happen, but DC for the entire gameof 15 minutes? Obviously, we could all be reasonable and say that 50% of the battle AFK equates to not DC so after 7 minutes (or 100% inaction if the battle is shorter) no XP or credits. Or 0 shots, or 0 meters moved, or...

Yes, the doorbell can ring so give people three 'free' fouls before implementing.

There are reasonable compromises that can be made to improve this game as have been done with team-killing system of Blue warning in your garage, then Blue for the team who might well kill you. It is a problem and deserves more than to be dismissed out of hand.

There is already a system in place for AFKers.

AFK three battles in a row and you get no exp until you start playing again.

As for suiciders, well if you suicide all the time then either you will win less or your team really is better off without you.

How is someone supposed to play the game at tier 10 with zero experience? The player does shitty games and the team pays for it. Neither him nor the team enjoys something like this...
