Hi guys,

So there is one option on WOT portal page that came under my attention(thank you random reddit source). If you open hall of fame, there is option to "hide your stats". Obviously WG choose to not tell us about this in their new hall of fame announcement so we pretty much have no idea what it does exactly. I mean we do, it hides the stats from hall of fame, but big questions is:

Does it hide the stats in API? Thus effectively blocking XVM and 3rd party websites/mods from seeing your stats, which translates into no visible WN8 in game. Further translating into no-focus by pretty color.

WG please clarify this, thank you.

EDIT: I did decide to hide my stats, so we'll see what happens.

I don't know why people are so keen to hide their stats. In Warships you can and on the EU forum, hidden stats are taken as an admission that your stats are terribad and any opinions you voice are treated as such. Damned if you do, damned if you don't - I doubt it'd be the panacea that so many blurple players like to claim.

Such an action would be followed by.....

1. Hide my clan.

2. Hide my name.

and eventually.....

3. Hide my tank.

On top of this, on competitive games where the option to hide stats exists, it's often used by vocal groups with terribad stats to claim they are good & only hide it because of 'terrible people like you' & due to this, above mentality mentioned by strappster exists.

It's funny in a way, the option to hide stats will make it even more relevant to keep them revealed for an honest player. Because if you choose to hide it, people will assume you got something to hide (statpadder/terrible player claiming to be good, sealclubber, reroll, etc etc)

Do i support the notion to hide stats. Yes, more power to the people. just don't expect it to be the valhalla you think it might be. I'll keep my stats revealed, everyone may see how good/bad I am. Or how fanatical with certain tanks.

I'd happily hide my stats. It would give me an air of mystery that I am otherwise unable to cultivate...

Hiding them from battle is what I'd actually prefer, keep the out of battle stats so everyone can wave their e-peens at each other or create special clubs only for people who are "X" amount of (whatever is deemed) good. But if you're going to measure someone's worth from their performance in a video game with no impact in the real world then the problem isn't with them, it's with you. It's a game, my stats are mine and they are what they are.

Except your stats arent yours, they are public, since they are earned in a public environment.

I think hiding or deleting stats would be good for the game.  I know of many people that quit the game due to lack luster stats or players who just stop playing after losing 3 games in row to protect their stats.  Plus stats can cause distress to some players, players who just want to play for fun.

To me, stats don't make much difference, I play for fun but to some its not possible to play for fun due to stats.
